OK, so skip to 2:45 and listen to this bit, lights dim, make the MCG feel like Gorgoroth of Tolkien lore.... Be pretty sweet

This one hits the spot for me. The song title is particularly fitting imo 😄

Your all old

One advantage of being old is that primary schools in the 1970s had a real emphasis on ensuring young people knew the difference between grammar and their grandmother.

1064 was a good year with the Beatles touring and Melbourne winning the premiership

Pretty much anything by The Prodigy.

So anything from Songs For The Jilted Generation? 😂

Maybe the players can come out saying "I've got the poison" and then Kingy says "I've got the remedy!"

A big, big year then. Some other notable events:

  • The Sunset Crater Volcano in what is now Arizona, USA, erupted for the very first time. This volcano is still there today!

  • The Seljuk Turks, a powerful group from Central Asia, began to invade Anatolia (which is modern-day Turkey). They captured important cities like Caesarea and Ani. This marked the start of their expansion into this region.

  • On June 9 1064, the city of Coimbra in Portugal was captured by King Ferdinand I of Castile (a kingdom in what is now Spain).

  • Harold II, who would later become King of England, was shipwrecked in Ponthieu, Normandy (in modern-day France). He was then taken captive by Count Guy.

  • The building of the famous Duomo (cathedral) in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy, began in this year.

  • Borivoj II of Bohemia, who became a Duke of Bohemia (a ruler in what is now the Czech Republic) was born

as an old metal head my vote:

Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast

even though Im sure all the young players would be saying wtf is this

Showing your age or your bias there Rjay.

You sound like my dad when he complained about the Beatles back in the day.

Black and Blue by Chain? 🙂

I really do hope we regain our fighting spirit next year. I heard some story about when Neale Daniher became coach he would show some video of maybe a lion and wildebeest. The lion eventually won out and got his meal. But Daniher impressed upon the team how the wildebeest fought like mad till the very end and never gave up. I sure hope this story's true cos a year later we went from last to beating the eventual premeir by eight goals in the finals and a respectable loss in the prelim.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
