Poor Ricky is all over the news, as every media outlet feels the need to remind us all how close he came to dying.

If he wants to take the rest of the year off, he should.

However, Chris Fagan and our club doctors have said that he could be back this season.

Get the feeling Bruce will probably play and Carroll should be alright.

So changes should be simple this week. Out: Ricky, In: Bruce.

What about Beamer? He's played a couple game in the ressies and I think he is a very important part of our future.

You would not think there is much point in rushing Moloney back?

If he does not play again this year, that's almost two years out of the game.

He would want to make next year happen otherwise the game will pass him by.

I wish him well.

Given how much footy he has missed and IF he is fit then we should play him. He has missed a lot of football.

Madness, how much game time has Beamer had in the past two weeks?

Future being the operative word.

He played one game for Sandy reserves and has just come into the Sandringham 1sts.

I don't think he's fit enough yet; he's certainly not dominating at Sandy yet from what I've read.

That's enough to be AFL match fit IMO, who cares if hes only performing average, we need to get some match fitness into him ASAP, I cannot begin to describe how underrated the importance of his presence in the team is, he's one of my favorite players so this might be a tad bias but still. :P

In saying that, if the selection squad decide to give him 1 more week to prepare his body for AFL, then that's fine by me...

Benny played against Tassie on the weekend. Is his nose only good at VFL level now?

That or they can't be arsed removing his name from the list? :P

David Neitz (hamstring) - test

What the hell, at the end of last week he was 2-3 weeks. IMO there is no point in risking him, keep playing Newts at FF and give him as much experience as being one of the main foward targets.

As for Moloney, i really hope he can shake this OP. When he's out on the park he's one of my favourite players, but he's got to get out there!

yes ...surely Neeta is a longer term probability..at least 3-4 ; absolutely no sense rushing back..might only harm the preseason and hence nest year.

Ive been wonderig about Beamer for some time. Some hard and uneviable decision may be made by this club as certain realities may overtake hopes and aspirations.

Carroll will be watched this week, but yod think hes better than evens to play.

Retaining him would be a smarter choice than ditching him and getting an extra very low draft pick IMO.

it wouldnt be a matter of choosing to let him go erally, it may simply come down to a reliabilty/value for money / he's using a player's spot etc etc. some decisions are unplatable...but necessary. At full tilt Beamer is a gun, 1/3 fit and its the knackery!! thats life :(

Surely it comes down to exactly that - choosing whether to let him go or keep him.

As I said, I suggest retaining him is far better than getting a very low draft pick.

If his fitness means we're having this discussion in a year's time then sure, maybe it's the end of road. Way too premature to do now IMO.

I hear the sentiments..and I certainly hope he's on the mend. Otherwise really he's not adding to the equation, like it or not. If he doesnt play this year he will definitely be put under the microscope. This will sound harsh but there can be no rrom for pasengers in the team going forward, even if its a 1st class ticket !!

Hypothetical, he's traded at yeas end ...how is irrelevent , but he affords some value posibly to another team prepared to take a punt, or.....his injuries force him to call it a day. No return.

Its just a scenario....a plausible one even if not maybe probable.

remember...its about the team

I can see where you're coming from, but I imagine we both think it's not worth delisting Moloney on the evidence so far.

I think Moloney's trade value would be extremely low, so I can't see that as an option. However, like any player I think that if the price is right we should look at trading. Moloney is one player where I can't see the market paying a price worth taking.

Anyhow, let's hope he is on the mend :)

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
