Taylor will have his favourite 3-4 players from the top dozen and he they are going to go top 4, I wouldn't be surprised if try to package picks to get Richmond's pick 4

I don't care about points or pick value once we get the players we want

I would leave next years draft hand alone. With 2 firsts and our 2027 1st, we can (and should) go after a ready-made superstar. I think there will be an abundance of talent that will become available.

Butters - out of contract. Will be a RFA so we don't necessarily need to pursue him all picks. We have the cap space too, which is great. Will get May off our books too.

Bailey Humphrey - will no doubt want to request a move again.

Nick Daicos - after Collingwood start to fall off a cliff, he may want to look for greener pastures. Not saying we are greener pastures, but i hope we show enought improvement in 2026 to start to attract mature players for our next tilt. When Sidebottom and Pendles retire next year and De Goey is absolutely shot, their midfield is going to be super super bare and they have no draft picks to do anything. They are going to really crash hard unless they can pull some type of miracle with free agents.

Id also love to pursue one of Freo's VIC players next year and/or LJ.

Then there are the Key Position stocks. Maybe lodge an offer for Jed Walters / Ethan Read.

There is always the draft too depending on how we fair in the 2026 season.

Hopefully this year we prioritise more speed and kicking off half back / outside so that we can start to really improve ball movement and get a better assessment of our F50 stocks.

Would love Jobe Shanahan.

Big watch on this kid. Plenty of upside

OK... now I'm confused.. ( yes it can be done...lol... some say not too hard... they're unkind but possibly right )

Some are saying drafts picks CAN be traded before the night... some inferring they can't.

Most concur they can be traded on the night either prior to said picks or live through proceedings.

🤔🤔🤔 ??? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

The AFL is very good at hiding a list of the actual the actual 2025 draftees ( though you can read and watch all you like about 24's 🥴 ) well done 🙄🙄🙄

Really struggling to get excited about the likely options at 7 and 8.

I'm probably keenest on Dovaston - he's not as talented as Nick Watson, but he could be Papley. I can't see him being any worse than say, Ben McGlynn. His combine results will have really helped him, and I like that he played some great footy at VFL level for Box Hill.

I don't mind the look of Grlj. At least he's an A+ athlete. He hasn't shown an ability to accumaulate yet, but he has all the tools. Not as skillful as Butters, so I don't love that comparison, although he does move a bit like him and seems courageous.

The rest of the discussed candidates for me are a bit meh.

Sharp is vanilla.

Lindsay a one trick pony (it's a good trick though). Worry his ceiling is Matt Sucking.

Schubert doesn't do it for me, although I think Marsh looks alright.

Greeves might be okay when he gets into the weight room and put through a professional conditioning program - there's some upside there.

Phillipou interests me a bit. I like the athleticism and wonder whether he would have had a better year if he wasn't often injured.

The one that has me absolutely stumped is Rory Wright. How is this guy not considered at least a top 20 pick in this draft? The only real downside that I can find is that he seemingly had a quiet national champs, but there may have been a reason for that (position played ect). He's an elite kick and is clean under pressure. Looks best suited as a HBF but has inside-outside midlfield capability. Hard as a cats head. Looks plenty athletic.

Wonder if he'll emerge as a bolter - JT has shown in the past that he won't always follow consensus.

What shambles? 🤔 After this trade period this is the best place Carlton have been in the last year or so. A clean out is in process, just like at MFC.

As for young Harry Dean, the father son academy at Princes Park is named the 'Peter Dean Father-Son Academy' ... so speak to young Harry as much as you want, Harry is wearing Navy Blue next year 😉

I'm curious so you're a Blues fan who likes the Demons????

Dovaston is exactly what we need. I've only seen a couple of videos, but he's quick, has a crack, has footy smarts, etc.

I've only seen one video of Lindsay, but he looked great. Sublime kicking and could take a contested mark. Supposedly, he doesn't have midfield craft and may not be overly athletic. Are those knocks on the money ? That's when you need to see a lot more of a player. But at first glance you can't help but be impressed with his class. If he can never translate his skills to the midfield I'd be hesitant, as I do think we need to get a decent mid.

I liked the look of Greeves, but haven't seen enough.

I wasn't keen on Cumming or Schubert.

So, for me, early days, if Lindsay can become a bona fide mid at AFL level I like the look of him and Dovaston.

But Greeves looked really good to me. What am I missing with him ?

I wonder if it's toughness. I used to coach him as a junior. He's turned into a big boy, a nice kick with a Cripps-like frame, but he reminds me of Smillie from last year's crop.

What do you think, @ChaserJ ?

Correctamundo.

Even am a Dees member.

There was a bigfooty draft watcher who was very critical of his running

My hunch keeps insisting we'll end up using 7 and then live trading 8 to the Blues so they can get a pick in ahead of the Harry Dean bid - which otherwise we would be making ourselves at 8.

It is unlikely to have too big an impact on the final outcome of this draft. Probably we'd have Carlton's pick 11 instead of our 8, and then some bonus material, but we have a record of arranging remarkable live-trading chains so anything can happen from there. Perhaps even movement into the 2026 draft.

The more I think about it, it'll be pick 6 then shenanigans all the way down.

Perhaps a pick in the 20s to grab one of the tall defenders who aren't so highly rated but fill a need and are worth making an effort to develop given the space that will be available, at least at Casey for the short term.

If we were having a nearest the pin contest, I'd say Grlj early then trading back a bit to take Thredgold, and White and Sinnema, of course.

I like the implied versatility of Thredgold and White developing together.

I'd be surprised if we didn't take Dovaston (The Dove) with one of our selections, assuming we don't trade up or do anything silly like that

I don't think he's got a superstar ceiling equal to a Kozzie or Rankine type, but looks a high-floor prospect especially with his ability to accumulate disposals higher up the ground

Why is everyone so keen to write off Tholstrup?

The kid will be fine. He'll get more midfield time next season and he looked great there for Casey late in the year.

It's far too early to write him off.

But he needs to show significant improvement next season.

The Dove

Strange company, that Dove.

Their chocolate is delicious but their soap tastes dreadful.

Yep.

I have no doubt Doveston will be one of our picks.

That footage wasn't great. I saw six unpressured kicks go straight to the opposition or OOTF. One of those gave an uncontested mark inside the D50. He looks a bit on the slow side as well. Good mark, hard at it, but slow and questionable decision-making.

Is Dovaston > Sumner-Pickett?

By the draft rankings yes, Dovaston ranks somewhere between 10-20 and Pickett is more like 30+

Not how I see him at all - but that's part of the fun isn't it!

I reckon you've hit the nail on the head @Adam The God . Toughness or the expected level of urgency/intensity. Very much a Smillie mach 2.

As long as he's not squeamish, I wouldn't be too conclusive over a teenager's ability to adapt enough to compete adequately at AFL level with a developed body.

I'm not saying you are, by the way. I get you're pointing out potentially well-founded concerns.
