I hope GWS wins the flag in 26.

I am ok with Clazza moving on as I think he needs change as much as the club does. But he was my favourite player from day zero at the club. His first 100 games were the best first 100 I’ve seen. Always nice to me personally and to my kids.

I hope this is the change he needs and he gets back to his best.

We will move on as a club and give some of our younger players new roles and responsibilities which might enable us to surprise the competition and play some meaningful footy in 26.

So it's a 'twist' is it, Tom?

Yep, that (at least) McKirdy and Ralph got it a coupla hours earlier.

Twist, Tom, twist

p.s. ...and I could almost have GWS as my second team with Jessie, Toby and Clayton in it...

Moreso than Jackson Wagner and McVee?

AND OMac!

If they are offering rubbish picks, do we try get a player back?

What’s that saying? ‘Beggars can’t be choosers’. If MFC are begging another team to take Oliver, then we have no right ask for a high price. Dumbest trading decision MFC will ever make.

I genuinely hope Clayton thrives in Sydney and absolutely rinses us in 2026.

Yeah, he was MBCO from the week before the draft, eventually succeeded by MBJMcV.

That's ending well...

Defs.

Jackson: defector. Wagner: not a Bedford. McVee: defector.

vs

Hogan: personal journey. Bedford: Club encouragement. Oliver: Club 'encouragement'.

Plus: Is Fremantle.

You nearly got me with your OMac edit but...

Yeah, nah.

Hearing rumours that this is all a rouse to get Oliver to be a bit more professional, can anyone else confirm?

That'd certainly rouse me! And hopefully him!

As a ruse, however? Quite a risk!

(D*** predictive text, eh, Cossie?)

I just accept Clarry is off. Ita all about what we get and what we have accumulated at the end of the trade period.

Im possibly wired differently to others. I get the nicety of wanting/hoping/ watching a former Dee champ succeed, as ought to be his destiny as he was... blah blah blah BLAH !!

I dont wish him an unfortunate trajectory... but i really could give a fig once they take off the jumper

There's us....and there's them. Im not so much for them.

I get what he was at Melbourne... the good, bad and forgettable.

There are guys in Red and Blue.... there are the 'others' He's now going over to the 'others' and as such leaves my field of care.

I hope GWS fall in a hole... like the other 16

Go Dees

I wonder whether GWS have a quality player that they could include in the trade that fills a need for us on the basis that we take the players salary off their books?

p.p.s. Not sure, though, how a ranga goes in an orange jumper? He'll constantly look like one of those soccer jersey-over-the-head goal celebrators.

He'll be playing with his twin brother

What a pathetic post. No one wins in this situation. We don't want to WIN BY Oliver leaving. We aren't begging. You only have to listen to a guy like Oliver to realise how much of a genuine character he is, with the time he puts in with kids and hospitals. We all should wish him well but not with retribution against him or us. There is not a lot of characters in this rotten AFL REGIME like him.

If we did any of the leaking we really ballsed it up.

this should be the reference point, and we're taking on more wage too... but the personal challegnes and perceivable output might push against that compared to treloar, but he also wasn't an AA or award winner at all at the time

Your posting history indicates that you have some strong, personal opinions about players that may be a little closer to home than most.

Unfortunately Oliver is going for the same reason, albeit expressed in a completely different way, to Petracca. That may be difficult to hear but they are both leaving for cultural reasons that are intended to create an environment where our young players can thrive.

Clarry is a talented player but his behaviour, whether intended or not, has contributed to a bad environment within the club and the new coach is well within his rights to cut that out and send it off. If Clarry had held up his end of the contract then he’d bee playing for us until he retired. But he didn’t. Nobody wanted this but it’s Oliver’s actions that are the problem.

We wanted a reaction to King’s message to find a club, and he has found one.

I don’t know how you do this delicately really.

We just have to give King a chance to succeed and I think this is needed.

Pretty sure Oliver would have relayed to the Giants exactly what he was told by King and Co..

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
