27 seconds in he kicks a goal and does the 🤘🏻 (demon horns). Dees '26 confirmed 🤪

I might be naive to Trac's true value in the AFL world, but pragmatically I would be happy to add future picks to secure Humphrey.

Something like Dee's get
Humphrey,
Pick 7 2025,
Gold Coast's F1 2026

and we give up
Tracca,
F1 2026
F1 2027 (highly compromised Tas draft).

We retain a F1 in a better draft (2026) via the pick swap - Both teams get to death ride each other!

We get an emerging superstar.

& GC get a better return for Humphrey than if they wait for the Hawthorns, Collingwoods and Geelongs to offer them two late first rounders in compromised drafts.

If I were Humphrey’s manager I’d tell him Hawthorn are a powerhouse and we can wait. But the hand in the bush is Melbourne and they’ve recently developed superstars in Trac, Oliver, Kossi, Gawn… you wouldn’t lack for opportunity. They have future stars in Langford, Lindsay and Windsor.

If you like Melbourne take the deal, it’s big money and a good club.

IF he wants to come back to Vic the option is go with he club who can make it happen now and has money on the table

Or wait 12 months and hope your preferred club (if it's not MFC) can put together a trade to satisfy GC

It is a long term decision, he can sacrifice 12 months now and get to the place he wants to be for the next 12 years which is a no brainer. The only risk is injury in the meantime which could see the offers withdrawn/reduced.

We are not an attractive proposition on any metric, if you were choosing us compared with Hawks, Pies, Cats even Blues, Dogs etc what is it that puts us above the rest? The only thing in our favour is we can make the trade happen now, have dollars to offer and have King as coach (due to his previous relationship). On any other measure we are undesirable and yeah, for those who have argued so vehemently against it, Casey is a massive issue.

Edit - didn't read to the end of your post. What makes us a good club? We've been a basket case for years, stars wanting out, off field issues etc

I fail to understand anyone who doesn’t see that our facilities are a total disaster. Agree absolutely.

The idea he can spend another year under Hardwick at the elite facilities in GC and then potentially move to playing under Mitchell for a huge club that’s playing finals… that’s a massive sell.

For the rest of this post I wrote a sell for the MFC and saw how sad it was… this is a depressing reality

If we don’t do the petracca trade, watch the media knobs load up on us again. I’m sick of us being an easy target. Regardless of what we do, it’s always doom and gloom. Hopefully this culture reset starts a change. It’s hard to read it constantly and not let it affect your own psych.

No matter what we do they will do that. We are seemingly just an easy target.

If Gold Coast go back on their word and end up trading BH to Hawthorn before deadline day, then I say we first tell GC where to go, offer Trac up to another club at the last minute just to see what’s available, and then likely keep him.

If Humphrey kicks enough of a stink to Come to us it will be a straight swap, mate.

GC think they are getting a distressed asset on the cheap and we want something of value from this deal.

That impasse will only be breached if one of their assets suddenly becomes a problem…

I can think of 500,000 reasons per year why he'd pick Melbourne over Hawthorn.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
