Had a hot start with a few gimme goals last night. Was largely unsighted as the game went on. Heโ€™s still a work in progress with consistency and proving he could become a midfielder. Paying for potential.

Regardless, heโ€™ll be at the Hawks next year from what Iโ€™ve heard.

Certainly not saying you're wrong but what do the Hawks have to offer GC?

And just for interest what will the Hawks be giving the Suns for him?

Good start to the season, Blues and Cats thrashed.

Not really, if we're wanting the best for us we need GC to be thrashed many times.

Mostly irrelevant if he nominates them. That said, probably first this year, first next year, and a player like Cam McKenzie.

I was talking personally, Blues are my most disliked club.

Well itโ€™s not irrelevant as he nominated us last year and they wanted Petracca.

He is still a Sun.

Bailey WHO ???? Persona non gratis!

Let's hope he takes the Luke Jackson approach -- cruise through the year and then jump ship.

If I'm a player agent, I'm advising my client to go to Melbourne over Hawthorn. The Merrett debacle will have ramifications. If you're going that hard, you need to get the deal done. Mitchell and Hawthorn looked incompetent.

Everyone writing off Geelong after an un- winnable game against the Suns in peak humidity for opening round. Aside from maybe Brisbane, not one single team beats GC last night.

Nothing surer than Geelong bouncing back next week and having a big win over Freo.

Come on BBP, that was a nice evening compared to the rest of summer we have experienced in the sunshine state!

brand Petraccaโ€™s manager is already causing issues within the suns organisation, she has been more involved/demanding of the suns time, then the suns media manager which is causing the suns issues!

He never nominated us. He never requested a trade. He met with four Victorian clubs in a hastily pushed trade exploration back to Victoria. We were the only ones with currency to potentially get a deal done quickly. It didnโ€™t work out and now weโ€™ve likely missed our chance as other clubs with more to offer now have time to put into courting him.

No, he didnt "nominate us" Red..

People on here got sucked in by a random poster during trade period that was leading everyone in this forum to believe so.

Funny how he hasnt posted since then.. #troll

I thought he did ask the Suns but wasnโ€™t pushing it, so I accept the word nominate could be wrong.

LT I accept there was no formal nomination.

As we have 2 first round picks this year, of the other clubs who are pursuing him, who do you feel has more to offer the Suns to get a deal done, than us, without losing a player the courting clubs want to keep? I would have thought with those picks we are in a pretty good position to start discussions. I note also his best mate is a Demon.

Lastly, I am not desperate to get BH like some others. As I have posted previously, if we could draft another Langford and Disco for example, with our two first round picks, I would do that.

Bailey Humphrey is a late withdrawal for Gold Coastโ€™s clash with West Coast on Sunday night as he manages hamstring tightness.

Hmmmmm โ€ฆ if he was a Melbourne player, the rumour mill would be revving up for a big weekend of speculation. Is the injury genuine? Which club has approached him with wads of cash? Control, alt, delete.

Player agents would blame Essendon for that.

Hopefully he has a really average season with a bit of injury and might make it easier for us to get him.

Feels more and more like the deal is done to me.

Why does pulling out of a game against WC make you feel like there is a done deal for him to come to us?

if he has an average season we're more likely to go cold on him

He pulled out so he could attend a BBQ. Make of that what you will.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
