I’d run with that and never look back if he was to go to Adelaide.

You’re kidding right ? Both Pedlar and Rachelle are McAdam Mk2 type trades. No thanks. It’s 14, F1 and something else maybe just maybe Rachelle. I’d the. Package up 14 and F1 (Adelaide’s) to get into this years Top 10

Rachelle is comfortably better and more exciting than McAdam.

Rachele is a gun and exactly the sort of player we'd want to target with a top 10 pick this year - an x factor forward who knows where the goals are. We've wanted (see our pursuit of Nick Watson in his draft year and Rachele last year) and needed his type for years.

Scraps from today -

• Gold Coast forward Malcolm Rosas Jnr has picked Sydney as his preferred destination.

• Connor Budarick has narrowed his decision down to either the Western Bulldogs or North Melbourne, if he leaves Gold Coast.

• Cal Twomey believes it’s either stay at the Pies or go to Gold Coast for Jamie Elliot although his understanding is “he would prefer to stay at Collingwood, but the deal has to be right”. Heard this story before

• Riley Beveridge thinks Gold Coast and Sydney are best placed to get a deal done, ahead of Geelong.

• The Western Bulldogs have emerged as a potential home for Brisbane midfielder Deven Robertson, who is expected to seek a fresh start elsewhere next season.

• Christian Petracca has been spotted with manager Anna Scullie and wife Bella at the Adelaide Airport amid rumours of a desired shift to the Crows.

Wonder why Robertson wants to leave a team who won the grannie two years in a row and is getting game time.

No I’m not haha. Rachele is a gun.

Do they even know who Petracca is ?

Premiership player

All Australian

Norm Smith medallist

2 x B.&F winner

2 x B&F Runner

He polled 16 votes in the Brownlow across 10 games in his comeback year

All the trades offered so far are a disgrace

He’s contracted.

The Crows can go f€€>k themselves !!

Stand up Dees and show some ballz!!

One bright crows butterball says :

Crows Pick 14 & pick 41 to North Melbourne for pick 20 and 21.

Crows Pick 21 to Brisbane for Calum Ah Chee

Crows Jordan Butts and Pick 20 to the Western Bulldogs for pick 10

Dogs Pick 10 to the Dees for Petracca

Farrrrrk off … one single pick … pick “16” after compo and academy /father son picks. Is that a joke ?!?! 🤮🤮

Because he’s only played 6 games in the past two seasons and no finals.

Understandable at a club like that with that list.

I hope they don’t look back at this …

DEES TRADING SINCE THE PREMIERSHIP

2021 IN Dunstan

2022 IN Grundy Hunter Schache OUT Toby Bedford, Jayden Hunt, Luke Jackson, Sam Weideman

2023 IN Billings McAdam ️ Fullarton OUT Harmes Jordon Grundy

2024 In Sharp️Campbell ️OUT Neale-Bullen

Oh, that list has caught the club out. Best we stick with using draft picks and get tougher bin negotiations for picks.

If we get Rachele and have to pay 250k a year for Trac to play elsewhere - we take it and run like hell. In partnership with Kosi, helps set us up for the next 10 years.

The knock on Rachele is 'strange' to say the least. I'll be in the minority here, but if the substantive trade was Pick 14 + Rachele for Petracca, I'd be taking that and running.

Would also do the deal if it ends up as pick 14 + Rachelle and Adelaide pay the full salary.

If they want to throw in Pedlar as steak knives, I would take him too. He’s not afraid of a goal in the little I have seen.

We played the entire season with Trac (who I think was a fair way off his best) , ultimately coming 2nd in the B&F - We still finished 14th.

If we ended up with Trac out and got Flanders and Rachelle in. We are quite a bit more dynamic in two parts of the ground simultaneously.

I avoid getting emotionally involved in what is being floated about trades mainly because I am completely ignorant of the entire trade process.

For example, I see people suggesting Rachele involved in a trade for Tracc. But how can Adelaide just offer him up? Is he not contracted? How can they dictate to him where he will go? Thanks for any illumination.

they can't

any player being traded needs to agree to the trade; there's no trading 'without consent' in the afl

it's very different to almost every other sport, primarily because we are a small fry competition and the salaries are tiny in comparison with other organisations at an international level

Trac is managed by Eddie Betts wife Anna Scullie

I suspect he's managed by more than one person in his life. And that'll be the root cause of the problem.

Guerra is on right now.

I had to run off but he sounded pretty composed in his stance to not accept unders for Trac.

Plenty of material covered today among the news, opinion and some speculation:

• big names for discussion on the 2026 free agents list include Zac Bailey, Zak Butters, Ben King and Sam Walsh.

• Riley Beveridge says the Swans are making good progress locking away Joel Amartey ahead of his free agency year.

• Dees CEO Paul Guerra: "We met with Christian late last week where he expressed his desire to explore a fresh start in 2026. Christian is a once in a generation player. With this in mind, any decision regarding Christian's future will be made in the best interest of the MFC."

• Cal Twomey on Petracca - it’s now about happening and is about satisfying Melbourne in a deal.

• "St Kilda and Melbourne are in strong favouritism for Sam Flanders after he met four clubs last week."

• The Saints are having a massive crack by bringing in so many players, but it is also a huge risk.

• The Merrett situation will unfold. The test is how much does Essendon want out of the deal?

• Liam Pickering’s hypothetical - "Would Adelaide be willing to give Melbourne a Jake Soligo type player to secure Christian Petracca? They might need to bite the bullet and trade a player like him in order to get their missing piece in the midfield."

• the AFL announced its assistance package for the wooden spoon West Coast Eagles. They will receive Pick 19 and four extra rookie spots.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
