2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

Featured Replies

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

Date of Birth: 10 September 2005

Height: 194cm

Games CDFC 2025: 17

Goals CDFC 2025: 24

Shows potential but thats it at this stage. A full pre season will hopefully do the trick.

He has the knack of taking a “hanger”. Good kicking action, too.

Apparently was in intensive care with pneumonia, causing him to miss most of preseason. We can expect much better things in 2026.

Don’t get me started… I love this kid. The reasons are many and varied, suffice to say get excited fellow-Dees tragics… we got ourselves a good ‘un!

FUTURE

Here is hoping he hasnt walked under any ladders or jinxed himself at all, a proper pre-season and who knows where 2026 will take him.

Luker Kentfield plucked from obscurity ‘24 mid-season draft, tough start to the season just past. Has determination in spades and hint of mongrel about him too. Got better as his season progressed. Been duly rewarded for his efforts with a contract extension for next year.

He has the presence of a true forward. Can take a big mark in a pack and reliably finishes by kicking powerfully and straight. Not wishing to put undue expectations on the young bloke. But he is well positioned to emerge next season IMHO.

I am really looking forward to seeing him develop. High ceiling by all accounts.

Go Filthy. 🔴🔵

I haven’t seen much of him, but I’m encouraged by all the positive comments above. He might just thrive under the new ‘freedom’ promised by Steven King. Go Luker!

Fingers crossed he can have a big pre season and challenge for senior games early next year. I don't see the point to giving Johnson or Jefferson games ahead of him.

Could not agree more TC. One of the positives for 2026.

i thought he was taller than 194, if he was 197+ i'd be an extra 20% more excited but none the less i hope we see him R1

Fingers crossed the boy has some talent & improved over the year but still has a long way to go. Great mark & kick but lacks agility & not very quick.

Him & the rest of the team were embarrassed by Frankston's country footballers in the final.

He looks strong and co-ordinated and a dead eye kick for goal. I just wonder if he is fast enough and/or tall enough to make it as a key forward at AFL level. He might be a better defender at AFL level.

Probably should have been given a senior game in those last two rounds just to brush off the first game nerves.

Has he overtaken Jefferson? Possibly and where does that leave Jefferson.

Could be a find
