Faicos

1 Doesn't win enough of his own ball

2 Doesn't chase

3 Hardly tackles

4 Petrified of contact

Hence name Faicos, his brother is a better player

I don't agree with the 3-2-1 system. Often the best 3 players have played similar standard games, yet the 3 voter (usually the 'big name') gets the 3 votes.

I think the votes should be weighted, e.g. 6-5-4, so that there isn't such a discrepancy/unfair weighting between the 3 vote getters.

Shall I go to my room now?

Maybe something should happen soon?

We’ve been used to the umpires votes being a little bit weird – and that was back when they actually knew what they were doing!

Now that they have NFI?

Mind you, they might have actually got it right this year 🤔

Anyone else noticed our social media has felt a little different the last month or so?

Just a bit more irreverent, and not afraid to have a bit of fun? I like it.

I love it!

CLUB champion Max Gawn has led the Demons at the Charles Brownlow Medal count, amassing 23 votes for a ninth-placed overall finish.

It’s his highest tally on the AFL’s night of nights, eclipsing his previous best 20 votes which came in 2018.

Christian Petracca came in as the second-placed Demon in his comeback season.

The placings reflected the club’s best and fairest count earlier this month, with Kysaiah Pickett also rounding out the podium.

Jack Viney polled eight votes to be the fourth-placed Demon.

Jake Bowey earned his best-on-field three votes and first Brownlow votes for his 32-disposal Anzac Day Eve performance against Richmond.

Christian Salem and Jake Melksham were the other two Demons to poll with three and two votes respectively.

Full Demon Tally

Max Gawn – 23 Votes
Christian Petracca – 16 Votes
Kysaiah Pickett – 10 Votes
Jack Viney – 8 Votes
Jake Bowey – 3 Votes
Christian Salem – 3 Votes

Jake Melksham – 2 Votes

Thanks for adding Jake M

There's an article on FoxSports at the moment
Lists 4 Games where Rowell gets Brownlow Votes and No Coaches Votes
Lists 4 games where Anderson gets Coaches votes and no Brownlow Votes

But then says

It’s worth reminding ourselves through all of this that the Brownlow’s imperfections are what makes it so interesting.

The umpires are a unique set of observers. And if the results just played out exactly as we expected, as if Champion Data was handing out the votes, it’d be pretty damn boring.

It’s still worth noting that Rowell in this circumstance is a strange winner - he was fifth-favourite to win the medal, and had it clinched with three games left. That’s really weird!

Not as weird as Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera not polling the three votes for the game he single-handedly won against Melbourne, though.

That was the worst decision in Brownlow history and if you’re gonna review the voting system, THAT decision is why.

And in another article, another reference to the 2nd highest rated player on the ground (Viney) getting 3 votes.

If one game summed up the absurdity of the Brownlow Medal it was this. If one game alone can finally instigate a change to this award, it should be this.

The 2025 Brownlow Medallist posing with his childhood hero.

What a smug, vain and arrogant looking piece of work. (Judd, that is)

How bizzare, a child with a Dan Murphy’s logo on what looks like “official” AFL children’s merchandise. Would never get away with that these days.

I think we need to start giving out participation awards at the brownlow too. They should all be rewarded just for being there!

this is all very interesting in a minor way

but who got the real brownlow? the red carpet brownlow that is

WOW THATS SURELY A JOKE

Silver medal

Bronze medal

In the Brownlow

Dillon must be permanently concussed !!!

This is just another example of why the AFL needs someone running it who is not from the old boys network. So we are going to give a medal to the player who runs second! Largely in my view because Daicos has run second twice. God deliver us!

That is a terrible idea

Everyone should stop watching it then they will notice

they'll then have to have gold/silver bronze medals for moty/goty/coleman/coaches award/norm smith/rooky etc

when will they rename the brownlow to the midfielder's medal and introduce the forward's medal and defender's medal?

I reckon they should have an award for the best suspended player.

The best unfairest.

That makes way more sense dc. If the player who ran second was not Daicos would there even be a discussion.

They couldn’t decide the winner so they are giving everyone a Participation medal.

That should be celebrated???? (not by me).

I celebrate that he has come second! I love it and never want him or anyone from that club to win.

The AFL could compensate him by renaming the Brownlow Medal as the Nick Daicos Medal.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.

All at Melbourne are eagerly anticipating his resurgence to his previous peak performance levels.
