To be honest itโ€™s going to be an interesting looking team with no McVee, Spargypants, Mayzie, Tracc & Clayton we may struggle to beat Wet Toast.๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Would be interesting to see some round 1 teams right bout now..

โ€œSee Ned, weโ€™re so serious about you leading the midfield that we shipped off bang bang bang to prove it to youโ€

U would want to hope like hell he chooses us then. High risk.

Need him to choose the Dees. Need to throw it back in Ollie Geale's face. Cocky [censored] just cause he chats to players in dm's and reckons they've already won. They can't have everyone. Gotta get it done, Dees. Please ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Our pitch should be if you join the dees then you don't get tackled by Jack Viney.

Anyway I hope King is preparing on our of best slide shows yet

Need to get some quality back in with Trac and Clarry out the door

based upon only the two rumoured 'ins' to the side and all the outs...

B: Moniz-Wakefield - Petty - Lever
HB: Bowey - Turner - Salem
C: Langford - Rivers - Lindsay
HF: Fritsch - van Rooyen - Langdon
F: Melksham - Mihocek - Chandler
Foll: Gawn - Windsor - Pickett
I/c: Viney - Tholstrup - Howes - Sparrow - Culley
Emerg: Laurie - McDonald - Heath

Looks much more athletic already

Say what you will about the rest, but Spargo and Sparrow were solid contributors to a premership team - how many premerships has Flanders played in?

While Sparrow hasn't gone to that next level we'd all like him to or perhaps even produce quite as consistently at the level he is capable of, I still see him as a valuable part of the team. If we don't have him, we're dipping into playing the likes of Henderson, Billings, Laurie and co more often and makes for a weaker team.

IMHO, it's easy to look at other teams players through rose coloured glasses, when you don't scrutinise them every week and it's mainly their best games that get noticed widely. If Mat Rowell was a Melbourne player, last night we'd all be beating up on him worse than Trac, that he can't produce in the big games, being just a bully to the mid and lower tier teams. Prior to the Darcy Moore injury, Trac had a number of seasons where his output against the better teams put him as one of the true elite and best players in the comp.

Stop talking sense. You're setting a bad example.

What we need is Tracc to choose Suns and they tell Flanders it is Dees or you stay with us on current contract money.

They can even pay him a bit to match or better other offers.

If they want Tracc they need to find the deal.

Then there is Humphrey.

If Clarry goes, to say the Giants, we pass on pick to Suns if we can convince Humphrey to join his team mate playing for his former Coach in our midfield.

We want players choosing us because they want to play for Melbourne, rather than being pigeonholed into a decision.

King, Gawny and Richo to meet with Flanders today.

My feel is St Kilda wins it, happy to be proven wrong.

If Flanders knocks us back we need to get Humphrey.

I am sure that knowing players were leaving and our dislike of this draft, we must be talking to other players, as we might only use one pick in this draft and we will have list spots to fill.

I donโ€™t think we would be planning to get Fullarton/Schache VFL types again.

Relax. Let it play out.

The growing narrative around what we โ€˜needโ€™ to get in this trade period is more about instant-gratification for nervous fans than it is strategic imperative for our future over the next 10 years.

Weโ€™ll be ok.

If I am Humphrey a young but maturing dynamic forward/mid who wants to grow his time in the middle AND impact forward. I would be wondering how does Petracca coming to my club impact my want for increased midfield time and impact forward.

Surely only entree-sized tortellini given the state of their salary cap

Is the Linguine on or off the menu?

I work with one of Flanders mates.

Flanders stated St Kilda to him last he heard.

He also says that Flanders doesnโ€™t care where he plays, wants to be near family.

This doesnโ€™t bode well. I hope they made it an Irish coffee at the very least ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

So family and money >>>> jumper/club

Think we need to recalibrate how we view a lot of players

(I totally understand it re money and family, just saying)

Makes it so simply on how to get him, if they preach on those two things.

I think that he will be roped into a trade with Trac now that Trac nominated Suns.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
