Then watch us make good deals and scoop up some good players that see value in our list and like what King is saying.

And the media nuffs try to sabotage them.

Kane Cornes is someone I personally would love to punch in the nuts

The saints are overpaying like 6 B graders because they have nothing to offer but money. I’d rather go to Essendon than st Kilda.

Saints are a basket case and have been for years, Cornes is just a headline grabber

And we have only been a basket case for a few years

This is true but Saints don’t have us covered

I'd be happy to have Flanders but not at anything like the rumoured 900k.

Saints welcome to have him for pick 7.

Similar and better players available as free agents next season and that's where I'd want us to be going hard with that kind of cap space.

Even if we pick up Flanders at 900k it’s looking like we will still easily have enough salary cap to offer a large amount of money to the free agents like butters or king next year

Why do supporters worry about what incoming players are paid ? I couldn't care less.

We either get better or we don't. Get better.

Because some supporters worry that there club might overpay players causing large struggles in the future loosing your best players because of tight money situations, I would like for us to get better whilst being reasonable in the amount of money we give players

Like Petracca and Oliver?

Unfortunately we aren’t Geelong. We can’t attract quality players to our club with land parcels and Cotton On tshirts. We have to overpay to get good established players.

We haven't been able to attract a decent free agent when we were premiership contenders. Why would the likes of Butters or King want to join us, especially if we let Trac break his contract?

Yes and I’m happy to overpay on certain players rn because we have the salary cap to do so I was just trying to point out how salary cap is something that shouldn’t just be brushed under the rug by fans

Well I’m a Melbourne fan speaking in complete blind faith and hope here but hopefully the young boys start to develop and we start playing fast exciting football that attracts the big names like butters and king

Of course not but it’s also not something fans have any point worrying about. We have list managers and accountants to work out that stuff.

Trust that if we can chase Houston, inquired about Curnow and are chatting with Flanders that money is not a problem.

Geelong do it somehow.

Maybe there are some hidden market gardens near Linton Street??

Culley, in his limited exposure, has done quite a bit forward, and can grab a decent mark.

Agree could become a target as a fourth forward behind Fritta.

Yeah but then worrying about what players we want to trade for would be considered useless aswell

but yes I said that before that it isn’t something we have to worry about currently because of the large space we have in our salary cap

In the Sun's games I've watched Flanders seem to be a pretty good kick but when watching other teams it's easy to over rate kicking skills as the (inevitable) turnovers don't stand out as much as when watching the dees.

Do any keen watchers of the Suns have an informed view of Flander's kicking skills?

My take is that while he’s not a game breaking kick like a Houston or Zorko type, he generally has high disposal efficiency and is good at accumulating and hitting those 30m targets that we so often struggle with

I just hope we aren’t considering what will be effectively a swap of trac for Flanders, by all indications the crows will be offering the current first and future which would both probably be then needed to get Flanders. As much as I want more talent in the door letting trac out at the same time is a net loss

Ta.

We need at least one or two more players who can regularly hit those really high risks (by the by I'm hopeful XL wil develop into one such player), particularly if we do end up losing McVeee, but players who can reliably hit those 30 metre kicks are even more critical i reckon.

Games are won and lost on turnover these days and missing those sorts of kicks has a double impact - the oppo win the ball back and are often gifted a scoring opportunity, but as significant, perhaps more so, a potential scoring chain is broken.

Can someone explain the hype on Sam Flanders? Not familiar with him at all and his finals stat's look average at best.

Just asking
