Where has this come from. The Hawks were a basket case 15 monthes ago.

Thatโ€™s what I was thinking. It defies logic how they have turned things around. They look so fit and strong too. Right balance of brains and braun

ย

Anyone who calls himself The Wizard who is not legally named Jeff Farmer, needs to uppercut themselves.

Yeah.

all you need to do is teach them to use different, "acceptable" insults. F'n C... for example.

easy

Or just abuse an official afl photographer or an afl junior staffer & you're sweet

Five finals five teams I wanted to lose have won.

Same for me.

The Crows have been boring, inefficient and lifeless for both games this finals season. Little run, little dare, little intensity. I don't reckon the Hawks can win the flag, but they are playing with a confidence and intensity that reminds me of the Dees in 21.

With Geelong v Hawks (Bailey v Ginnivan) it really will be the Battle of the Duck Heads

How does a 34 yo Gunston kick 5 in a final โ€ฆ

Because the hawthorn midfield kick it properly to him & he leads well

I hope Rankineโ€™s watching this. I hope the message is not lost on him. Heโ€™s not only homophobic, heโ€™s stupid and heโ€™s selfish. His teammates didnโ€™t deserve this.

All this, but also heโ€™s not a 45 point difference type player. Adelaide have [censored] the bed.

The way the hawks fans are celebrating there is how I felt in 2018. More so than 21 because I was there for those 2 great finals.

I reckon the hawks fans could out number the cats fans & make more noise

Ugh. A Geelong v Hawthorn prelim is a nightmare.

Also, Adelaide, wow. Theyโ€™re on track to lose all 8 quarters of finals after finishing on top.

I would feel more comfortable if you said Demons '18.

His justification is that it was his nickname when he came to them. Jeffoโ€™s nickname was the Magician, AJโ€™s nickname was Peaches. I rest my case ๐Ÿ˜

ANB 11 touches at 54%

things havenโ€™t changed too much

he tries his heart out though

ANB 0-6 in his last 6 finals. Unbelievably unlucky.

Adelaide. Wonโ€™t. Win. A. Quarter. This. Finals. Series.

Wow.

Has that ever happened before from 1st?

Unlike us they have been trading and drafting very efficiently and smartly and to a plan. Picking up cheap as chips trade bargains like Ginnivan, Chol Dโ€™Ambrosia, then pay full price for Barrass and Battle to go with early picks like Watson.

He'll have Adelaide's first game next year to sit in the stands and ponder further.

Watson wouldโ€™ve been playing for us had the Hawks not picked him.

Donโ€™t understand the dislike for him, has a crack, is dangerous, and does this being a lot smaller than a lot of his competitors.

ย

For mine, the positive is that Hawthorn are a better chance at beating Geelong than Adelaide are.

End of positives

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
