Really enjoyed the game of Fitzy today. A reward for effort with a mid field role and she took it with both hands. The young ones look like 50 game players, Rigoni, Molly O, Maggie M, Gall burger. Solid performances by Colvin and Campbell (her best game) set up an another good win. Is there a wind turbine out there? Perfect in my back yard yet blowing a gale down there.

Kate with 32 disposals? It’s what I heard anyways. What an incredible player/captain she is

Hore and Hanks. And they have found some mid sized backs that play taller and have great instincts.

If Fitzsimons keeps playing like that then they are a chance this season. Purcell is such a large gap to fill but MF is doing a pretty good impression with Hore spending more time in the middle too.

I didn’t see any of the game (snag duty) and I’m sooooo looking forward to watching the replay tomorrow, not tonight because I’ve got a VFL game to scream my lungs out at. A win tonight along with today’s win will go some way to easing the pain of Geelong and Collingwood making it through to prelims 🤪

PS how did my girl LJ33 go today?

I'd like to put in a word for Saraid Taylor, who has been really good in the homebrand backline.

Still don't like our chances of beating the top teams, but for now happy to beat up on the strugglers.

I'm really liking the look of Rigoni Jr. She's a good size, good kick and has a serious bit of pace. She took a mark around HB/wing today and just put on the afterburners. Straight around the marker and left them in her dust. I think the biggest limiting factor on her right now is confidence. She's still hesitating to back herself, but once she feels comfortable in her role she's going to show us something.

This was one of my favourite moments of the day. Just went for it! Wouldn't mind seeing a Rigoni v. Bannan race.

Saraid - 15 disposals at 93% efficiency. Always making a contest, then making good decisions.

Mahony is another one putting in a lot of effort out there, not always rewarded just yet, but good signs.

Nice spread of goalkickers today as well.

Well, you won't enjoy the part in the replay where, if I heard correctly, the commentator mistakes LJ for Fitzy, only for her to pass to... Fitzy. Making it "Fitzy passes to Fitzy". Oops.

Injury watch, we must remain ever vigilant: Hoping that Chaplin pulled up ok after going off late in the game?

Y ah you heard the commentary correctly 🙄

Lily Johnson doesn't seem to be getting much game time, I'm not sure why because she doesn't look out of her depth when in there.

Another strong performance

Dees not being recognised to have at least 5 key players out !!

Agree that Ebert has been a valuable addition. She’s been solid.

Hore ️elite

Hanks ️elite

A fantastic start to the season considering @spirit of norm smith as you mentioned.

Really proud of this team

I will say, its been nice to have a kind fixture for a change.

we've been shafted historically in this regard

Lions swans and bombers most difficult games from here and they are all winnable.

No north or hawks during H&A

really no excuses not to be top 4 from here

Our backline depth players have really stepped up.

To be honest I didn’t think Saraid Taylor would ever be a permanent fixture in the side, but she has been very good playing her role beautifully. Has been super reliable. Last week Stinear was praising her leadership (along with Chaplin) and ‘voice’ in the backline. There is an interview after yesterday’s game with Saraid and her voice sounded shot. She is obviously quite vocal out there.

Layla Ebert has been a find too. Has played all four games (handy win/loss ratio to start your career) with yesterdays game a high point with 20 possessions (only one less than McNamara and Fitzsimmons) and 89% game time so she is obviously pretty fit. As an injury replacement I have no idea why she wasn’t picked up in the main draft.

Gemma Rigoni. RalphiusMaximus has already mentioned it but she is a good size, good kick and has some serious speed. After her injuries over the past couple of years she became the forgotten footballer but certainly looks like she is one to watch.

Molly O. Going to be a star.

It will be interesting to see how these players go against the top sides but they would certainly be building confidence and belief over the past few weeks

Stinear said yesterday that the backline should be bolstered over the coming weeks although it is difficult to see from where? Perhaps Lampard calf isn’t too bad and Gillard's knee is on the mend but both are still listed as 4+ weeks. It would take some time to find form you’d think too.

Anyway I’m loving the footy and really look forward to watching this team play each week

Good to see her really get the confidence to use that speed late in the game. It's a real weapon.

I'm really excited for what Rigoni can bring. She looks to have weapons with marking, speed and kicking.

watched the second half of the crows lions game. some shockingly bad umpiring.

Hmmm 2,001 🤔. Feels like some massaging of numbers going on there. Bit like a Collingwood 6 footer

Finally got to watch the reply back last night after being at the game. I'm all for taking the time to get the decision right, but Fitzy's disallowed goal incident was a bit of a shambles! At the game I'd assumed they were looking at video footage, rolling it back forth like in the men's, possibly checking different angles, etc., and that can take some time. But last night I discovered they were using the ball chip technology which, you'd assume, should be quick and decisive. Even after the delay in the centre and the ball being returned to the goal square everyone stood around for a minute waiting for god knows what. Then the first graphic came up, indicating it was a goal. More wait, then it indicated a behind and we finally got on with the game.

Anyone have any insight into what was happening?

Those of us at the game were completely kept in the dark. All we knew was Fitzy had her goal taken off her, we weren't happy.

Averaging 43% TOG, definitely an anomaly. Considering we've had Harris, Purcell and Heath all out of games relatively early, the rotations have presumably been limited at times. I wouldn't say we're running out games well. Maybe it's something they want to work on in these early rounds by pushing through?

Just watched the replay. Couldn't agree more. They're making a complete pig's breakfast of the changes to the tackling rule. They weren't too bad the first couple of weeks, a few teething problems but that's fair enough. The last two weeks have been horrendous.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
