Brett Ratten @ $34.00 - hmmmm, worth a punt

Heard him speak on 3AW this afternoon. Already very polished in the media on that (admittedly short) performance. Also made it quite clear that he wants to coach at senior level very soon.

ratten or mckenna provide some good value i think... maybe worth having a punt on both of them... if someone bets on connolly that is the worst investment they've ever made...

Especially at those odds. I just cannot reconcile how he would coach Melbourne and I think it is the media beating it up becasue he played for us and ex-Melbourne media ppl like Healy and Gaz like him.

Have they got odds regarding what Melbourne supporters will do if the club appoints Connolly as head coach?

You know....

- Not renew membership $2.50

- Relocate to Mt. Buller $1.50

- Burn down Junction Oval $1.20

:P

I wouldn't withold my membership $.

I would love to burn down the Junction Oval facilities although we should wait till the new ones are ready.

Think I will put my house on a relocation to Mt Buller because that will be where I go if they do appoint him.

what interests me is the $4 for 'any other person'?

are they saying anyone from outside this list of people? if so, who else is there? and why would it be rated so highly?

The $4 is generous becuse the field for other coaches is so wide clearly. The obvious example would be Ross Lyon, no one had him on the radar for the saints last year, but he is at the helm now.

Most of the time I think they give it short odds because they generally dont know what will come out of left field, i.e Drew Petrie today probably wouldn't have been on the list for most goals scored in the roos v dogs game today...

What fools are pumping these Connolly odds? I don't know one person who thinks he should coach Melbourne next year. Surely, even the very slightest analysis of his record at Freo would rule him out.

If there is any fan gesture more angry than 'burn my membership card' point me in the right direction. Actually, point me at Richmond's stand-by pile of chicken [censored].

Connolly was an average player who played a few good games for MFC before injuring a knee. He is an ordinary coach who has not got the best from his list. Apparently he was a great bloke to have around on a footy trip and was an excellent clubman. His other claim to fame is that Garry Lyon thinks highly of him. I would rather Riley.

If Peter Schwab had'nt gone to hospital for one match, Connolly may not of even got the Fremantle gig.

Well, as expected Connolly has shortened dramatically in all markets... now the clear favourite to get the Melbourne Job.

Say what you like about bookies, but they're very cluey on this sort of stuff.

The only thing I can think of as why Connolly is favourite, is because he is a past player, which doesnt mean much. How many coaches are there at the moment are at the club they played for ? Worstfold but he can coach.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
