  1. Oscar McDonald had the 4th hardest defensive matchups of the 57 key defenders to qualify. His defensive rating was the = 7th best of that group. Sam Frost's rating ranked 50th. Don't be too quick in writing off Oscar. #2020AFLProspectus @championdata
  2. It's time to play him. It's school holidays and we should give him some experience, especially against a side like Richmond.
  3. You can't keep blaming the coach for everything. Look at Richmond, same problem. It's a developing list. I don't care if we get beaten by 20 goals every single week, as long as the players are developing. I think the reasons given above in response to your post are spot on. Even when Melbourne was top of the ladder a few years ago we lost by 80 points at AAMI - we simply hate playing there. We played a good three quarters against North and the first half against Collingwood was exceptional. Remember that 18 months ago, Collingwood were 1 goal away from beating Geelong and would have played and probably beaten Port Adelaide in the Grand Final. Remember, too, that after Round 21 last year, North Melbourne were fourth on the ladder. Let's judge Bailey at the end of 2010. I, personally, think he is a great coach. Remember that nearly everyone was calling for Mark Thompson's resignation after being at Geelong for 7 years and them not making the finals in that time. Now they say he is the best coach ever and has won a premiership and he lost 2 games for the entire year last year. Same goes for Clarkson. Even diehard Hawthorn supporters were calling for his blood 2 years ago and now look. Don't blame the coach, we had 13 players that had played 20 games or less - they will improve.
  4. He had a knee injury, big deal. People have knee injuries all the time. I would say it's stuffed forever.

  6. I just admit that I like Jamar, I think he has a lot of potential. He's only problem is he's kicking. He's heart is in the right spot.
  7. Just imagine this: F: Robertson, Neitz, Williams HF: Davey, Newton, Yze Williams would be a massive addition to our side. He is in the Russell Robertson mould and kicked 63 goals in 2005. Sure, he had a knee injury this year but if anything that makes him cheaper to get. What if we got pick 14 or 8 for Johnston and on-traded to Hawthorn for Mark Williams??
  8. Melbourne appears to be almost certain of getting John Meesen. If that's the case, we have White, Jamar, Johnson and Meesen. The question is this: where do you see things going? Obviously White will retire soon, but I doubt whether Melbourne will be able to hold 3-4 ruckmen on their list so they will either delist one, or one will leave. What are your takes? Spewing we let Jolly go.
  9. Opps. I grabbed another persons ladder and reorganised it. I've edited my post to include the roos.
  10. Johnstone for pick number 14?? Are you serious?? Ok, so he wasn't consistent, but he was still a #1 draft pick and has amazing skills. I would have been happy with pick 8, which Brisbane has. http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,,22566...from=public_rss http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,,22565...from=public_rss
  11. You have got to be kidding. Johnston isn't consistent, sure, but he's worth more than pick 14 ?? Remember that he was a #1 draft pick and has exceptional skills. http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,,22566...from=public_rss
  12. Geelong Hawthorn Port Adelaide Collingwood Brisbane West Coast Melbourne St.Kilda ---------------------------------------- Kangaroos Sydney Western Bulldogs Fremantle Adelaide Tigers Carlton Bombers
  13. I think you will find that Footscray joined the league in 1925, as did Hawthorn and North Melbourne. Richmond joined in 1908. The rest of the Melbourne clubs were around since inception. (University came and went).
  14. Why / why not? That's a pretty useless reply. Signature is a bit out too.. Ratten has signed
  15. Yep, it's all over SEN. ******** are allegedly the club involved.
  16. Would be a great pickup. Robbo and Neitz haven't got that much more life left in them. Even with them still around I think he'd fit well. And if Melbourne get Sheedy, he is the master of disipline with recycled players.
  17. I'll give you 7 players to delist: Byron Pickett Brad Miller Nathan Brown Chris Johnson Daniel Ward Matthew Warnock Adem Yze
  18. Explain your definition of "potential" ?? My 7 year old daughter has potential
  19. I know it's been done to death, but given the recent developments with Sheedy/Pagan, I think it's time to have a fresh vote.
  20. I think he's terrible. Hasn't done anything to impress me at all. Everyone says he has potential but I can't see it. Plays from behind (instead of in front), has no football brain, can't kick, can't mark. I don't know where the potential is meant to be but it's not obvious to me. Perhaps it's the bloodlines that ooze potential.
  21. That's where he played at Richmond before he came to Melbourne. Why Daniher put him forward i'll never know. Alongside Neitz was a good idea, but surely you'd make sure the guy could kick first. But I agree, he's good for Melbourne but only in certain roles, as mentioned above.
  22. Most people are saying to get rid of these four players. I would like to stand here and stick up for them. Wheatley - Very under-rated player running off half-back. Has struggled this year because of injury, but the past two years have shown the value he brings to the club. Ryan Ferguson - Along with Rivers, one of the most exciting back line prospects Melbourne has had for a decade. Ferguson was awesome in 2004-2005 before suffering a string of injuries both last year and most of this year. He's back in the team and I expect him to be a great player next year. You can't say delist someone who hasn't played for two years due to injuries. He's a young player and still has plenty to give. When he last played for Melbourne he was 19, give him a break. Bizzell - I just love the way he plays. He was awesome against Collingwood earlier in the year and once again has struggled with injuries early this year and had OP last year. Godfrey - Get serious. This bloke is one of the best tagger's going around. So his foot skills are brilliant - who cares - his role is to tag, not to get possessions. His work in shutting down the likes of Chris Judd, Scott West, Tarkyn Lockyer, Shannon Grant etc etc this year has been supurb. Under-rate this mans stopping/tagging prowess at your own perile
  23. MELBOURNEfc is well advanced with its process for the appointment of a new Head Coach. The Club has completed the first two stages of the process, and is now moving to the stage of interviewing preferred candidates over the next few weeks, before drawing up a short-list for final discussions and an appointment. The first stage involved the Club seeking the perspectives of a range of people within the Club, and then separately from a range of people outside the Club. These included Danny Frawley, Garry Lyon, Robert Walls, Mark Maclure, Anthony Ingerson, Peter Schwab and Gerard Healy. Views were sought on issues such as the team list and its strengths and weaknesses, Club profile, game trends and contemporary coaching. Those involved in that valuable process now have no further role to play, save for Garry Lyon who will be involved in reviewing short-listed candidates in a few weeks. The second stage involved the Club reviewing the material from internal sources -- including the team leadership group, coaches and support staff -- and external sources, and finalising its criteria and process. The Club has a sharp focus on its needs from a range of priority criteria. It has reviewed and selected the best regarded leadership skills assessment as an additional tool, selected a recruiting firm to assist in background checking, and has advertised the position formally to allow all possible candidates to come forward. Over the next few weeks, the selection panel, headed by CEO Steve Harris and Football Director Chris Fagan, will be meeting candidates before more formal presentations and discussions take place. The first round of presentations by high prospect candidates will be heard by the CEO and Football Director, and also by Nathan Burke, a former AFL champion and now leadership consultant and a Board director. From there, a short-list will participate in final discussions involving the Chairman, Paul Gardner, and other Club directors and the input of both Nathan Burke and Garry Lyon, before Club officials make an appointment. The Club's strong preference is made to ensure that the Club is in the strongest position immediately preceding the first week of October, when trade and draft decisions are made. The Club appreciates that the appointment is of major interest to members, and the media, and that as a result there is no shortage of speculation and comment by various people with various agendas, and with varying degrees of knowledge of the facts. However, the Club has resolved to make the best possible decision, not necessarily the quickest, and to find the right coach to make a difference at our Club. Contrary to some reports, the Club has not "signed" anyone; it has had some contact with all the candidates of major interest; and now has a strong field of prospective coaches. The discussions to date have confirmed to the Club that it provides a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking to succeed at the highest level. Those who have looked closely at the Club's player list, and the extraordinary injury impact, believe the Club is well positioned to bounce back from the 2007 season, and over the next few years will be well positioned to end a 40-year-plus premiership drought for one of the world's oldest clubs. The Club sees 2008 as a celebration of 150 years of life at the heart of our great game, but more importantly, as the first year of the Club's future.
  24. Bombers supporters have shown, over time, they have no idea about football. 27 years, 4 flags. That's one flag every 6.75 years. Hell, at 50 years without a flag i'd take that. Essendon people don't realise that before Sheedy they hadn't won a flag since 1965 (20 years) and prior to that 1950. So prior to K Sheedy they had won 1 flag in 35 years. They don't know anything BUT Kevin Sheedy success - they simply expect too much. They are morons, pure and simple. I hope they experience 50 years of PS drought. Getting rid of Sheedy - pathetic - although a blessing if Melbourne get him.
