If Carlton beat Freemantle today there is a good chance Chris Connolly will be unemployed by this time next week so I am adding my name to the NO to Chris Connolly movement.

I don't need to see him go through a selection process to know he would not be a good fit with the list we now have. He must be scarred after the pathetic effort of his highly rated list this year.

No to Connolly.

Garry Lyon is one of the people asked to help the club out with its coaching appointment. Since he's already made his position known that he wants Connolly doesn't he have a bit of a conflict of interest?

FWIW I reckon Freo will win enough games to make it to the finals.

This seems a touch more appropriate here.......

Lyon to have say on new coach

We can only hope ;) !!!

The commentators on "On the Couch" last night bagged Fremantle for playing with a lack of passion and a lack of commitment. Gerrard Healy nodded his head in agreement. What they were saying in effect was that Connolly couldn't get his team up emotionally for an all-important season breaking game against Sydney. I don't see how we could select him as a coach after that or how Healy ould even recommend him.

On the Channel 9 programme, which I though ws a bit of shambles in comparison to OTC, the panel led by Caro seemed to acknowledge that Caaaaalton was very, very interested in Michael Voss and that Voss would sooner go to the Blues than the Dees. No reason given but I'd suggest that the answer might hve something to do with the balance in Dick Pratt's cheque account.

And I heard he used to follow them as a kid. I think Walls summed it up nicely last night when asked who voss should choose between MFC or CFC, Walls said "CFC if he gets a 5 year contract to build the side."

Sheehan said "who would give a untried coach 5 years?" to which Walls said "no one, so he should go to MFC."

But the rumours have been that he wants to coach the Blues.

As long as we dont get Connolly!

with todays announcement in the west I am more nervous about the Connolly possibility.

I'm not. If the club sticks to its process then I can't see Connolly getting the job. He is too similar to Danners and has similar runs on the board BUT with a staff of 75 behind him and an apparently top 4 list (the concensus on Melbournes list has been that it isn't as good as Freos). How is he going to get more from Melbournes list. He has also had 6 years to build Freos list so if it is now submitted that there are defficiencies then he is responsible for this also. His inability to turn around characters like Farmer and Tarrant is also a concern. Incidentally I think Wiz was a better player under Danners than Connolly.

It was funny listening to the folk "On the Coach" the other night, and none of them (two of whom are actually involved in our appointment process) could quite understand why Connolly was being pushed as Melbourne's next coach, other than the slightly romantic notion that he played for us.

There you have it folks.

The great man has spoken.

P.S. I do quite enjoy your name.

Thanks for that - I quite enjoyed watching the great man at his furious best.... was just a shame when the umpire decided to watch, or he actually gained possession of the ball... eitherway a turnover was a regular result

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
