Read the post properly BM.

It was obvious to most observers that Lindsay needed a rest 6 or so weeks ago.

The management of some of the younger players has been terrible this year - Lindsay, Kolt, McVee & Windsor.

All of the players you mentioned had significant interruptions during the pre-season… some were extensive. The management to get them back on track has been outstanding! Snipe away Cranky… it’s all you’ve got!

Outstanding you say. That's got to be the most absurd statement of the Goodie the 🤡 era.

Even the real Wayne Wussell would be gobsmacked.

How did AJ go?

Wasn't his day but still competed well and finished with two goals.

Does anyone know if there is a replay of the game anywhere??

I imagine it'll be posted to the AFL website later tonight/tomorrow.

Fun fact: Shadeau (pronounced ‘Shadow’) Brain is one of 13* (THIRTEEN) children. All seven brothers and his dad play Aussie Rules footy.

*No Brady Bunching here. His parents have had 13 children together

oh God. Now I have an image in my head of Anthony Hudson, direct from the birth, shouting, “Thirteen! THIRTEEN!”

Spargo bog so far but his set shot goal attempt from 30 from the boundary didn’t make the distance.

Interesting, a lot of posters dont think he can kick past 35 m, just goes to show how wrong a lot of experts are

Lindsay was struggling 6 weeks ago. Very poor management not to rest him and/or play him at Casey. Typical of the Goodwin era.

You can't let it go, can you Franky?

If it new coach is a dud - but of course I hope he isn't - I sincerely hope you will eat a bit of humble pie. But you won't.

Taylor Whitford can coach, two premierships with North Launceston attest to that. Casey’s last visit to the Bears home base was a shellacking. As was the recent win loss record.

Astute coaching arrested the Lions’ 2nd quarter momentum swing and he gave the Casey boys a rev up at 3/4 time. Love it old time coaching! Put some real lead in the all team defence pencil in the last half. Fortunately the karma bus arrived with McCarthy’s miss post the final siren.

Happy trip on the return flight l’d suggest. A real shot in the arm for Demon supporters after this week’s events.

Those calling for Charlie Spargo’s deecoupling may need to get the Specsavers spray and clean the [censored] off the windscreen. A cut above VFL level on that performance. Was seriously amongst it all match particularly when the game was up for grabs.

It was pleasing to see the Demon younger brigade, Taj Woewodin, Pup Brown, Will Verrall, Luker Kentfield, and Bailey Laurie contribute strongly to the win too.

Of the VFL listed guys plaudits to Tom Freeman and Wardell Lual for their manful efforts in defence. Tom Fullerton played his best game for the season there too.

A high quality effort all round. Apologies to other contributors not mentioned.

Whether the new coach is a dud or not is a completely separate issue.

Goodie the 🤡 grossly underachieved given the quality of the list he had for 9 years. Should have been sacked 2 years ago.

You call him a 🤡 and yet I’ll bet he’s achieved more than you ever have in your life

It was one of the best games of footy I've watched this year. I'd urge anyone who hasn't seen the game to watch the replay from the start.

And... It was almost the worst game. We were so lucky with that stupid free given to the lions right at the end [censored].

Such a great fight back for the Dees to get that last goal.

Just awesome

Spargo can be a cut above VFL and also not up to AFL level, hes also had plenty of 16 touch vfl games where you would say hes at his level. one bog game doesnt mean he should be straight back in the seniors or retain his spot on the list, he doesnt change afl games enough in my opinion. at 25yo he had the same statline as 18yo Duursma we need to fond a younger player with more upside to play in his place

Also what a dees fan refers to as "younger brigade" and other clubs differs so significantly, pup and kentfield are young yes but the other three are "inexperienced" at the level above and aren't gonna cut the mustard, how many 3rd-5th year vfl goers do you see geelong wheeling out every year, imo we've seen enough to know they aren't going to be capable of making the next step

Fullarton as a key back is interesting, looking forward to seeing the next two weeks of him down there and what he shows

Happy to be corrected as I didn’t see all of today’s game, but I saw Spargo playing in the midfield and at centre bounces. 22 possessions playing mid/fwd (not sure of the percentage ratio) is not a lot of possessions for a player who has played 100 AFL games

He had a really solid game

Based on the recent reserves match , has Kentfield has become higher in the pecking order compared to Jefferson ? Will they both end up playing in the seniors together in the future?

Kentfield could end up playing in defence I suppose.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
