Im a bit stumped by this, I seems we missed our wondow on him. But maybe he is also being brought in as a development player/mentor for JVR as well.

I can't see a fwd line of JVR, Fritta, Mihoceck and Melksham. Maybe Melky misses out, which is tough after his 2025 season.

An on-field coach. Two years is perfect. He'll be an asset and provided he stays injury free will find a way to kick 35 -40 a season. You can't have enough "good citizens". Does not necessarily help our scoring accuracy, though, going at only 47% this year.

Have always rated him but at his age the end could come very quickly. Just 2 years IMO is suitable to bring in someone who knows how to play a leading forward role in modern footy.

Should help JVR and Kentfield develop whilst allowing Petty to return to the backline, where he belongs.

As the resident forward coach on here, he is now a reason to not gift games to any tall and for them to develop (or not) in roles they are more capable of executing in the team or at Casey.

Mihocek is a proven performer and a calibre above any tall forward we have had since Ben Brown.

He may teach players but I would prefer he just get his body right and perform as he can on the field - we want him to play games, be a target, and get into the right spots for us to kick goals.

It obviously has been a few months in the making and - while you never know - I hope he can play into his mid 30s having started in the AFL at 24.

Well done to the club on having a target and getting that person to the club.

I always hated that there was a Collingwood player I respected so much.

Good job on the club for solving that problem.

Upsides;

Can support and guide the young forward line while not directly competing for the spot for our 'true' tall forwards.

Brings character and intelligence into the culture and provides support to the new coaching group.

Is one of those players who continue to work at it, support the team structure, and require opposition attention even when having a quiet day.

Presumably, not a huge salary.

Downsides;

Might play limited total number of games [because old]. Although the only time he has missed any substantial number of games was 2024, with a ruptured pectoral tendon. No history of chronic problems or recurring hamstring twangs. Touch wood.

Career scoring accuracy is 50%. So he was slightly below career this season at 47%.

Apparently we pulled the third year on his to deal so we can load up on Humphrey. I may have made that up.

I hope we have not forked out too.much for him.

He's 33 at the start of the next season and averages only just over a goal and half per game so it's nothing to swing from the chandelier about.

But on balance not a bad call given the shape of our fwd line. But let's be honest it's another short term stop gap solution.

Super happy with this provided we ain't getting a lemon. Wouldn't be the first time but fingers crossed.

The guy can play and gives super white line effort almost always.

Not sure the stats back up my gut feel but i had the impression he is pretty accurate anywhere within 40 - 45 and can even slot 50+ on occasions.

On the surface this is a great get and finally some good news happening on the trade front.

We have to fully back the club in from here, including SK.

Now for some better ball users by foot coming through the middle into 50.

Ashame Judd moved on as i thought he was one plausible answer if he ever made the transition into the middle or off a wing but not really his forte eh.

I still think we should seriously consider moving Bowsa into a defensive HHF role in order to utilise his poise under pressure and decent delivery skills by foot into the 50. Def wouldn't happen under SG but under SK who knows what he's going to tweak and ask from whoever's left from the old brigade.

We'll obviously need more kicking talent than just Bowsa regardless if we're to capitalise on the likes of Checker, Koz, Melk and any others on the lead.

He's a good option for a forward line lacking options.

its 2 years on reasonable money so won't break the bank. As long as King fixes our method of delivery he should go ok. Gives JVR the opportunity to develop within having to take the no. 1 defender

I think this is a solid pick up.

For once JVR wont actually take the best defender now. He's a big bodied forward who will provide strength and contest in our front half whilst JVR is able to develope his game without the pressure of taking the best defender.

30 plus goals next season will be a solid outcome i reckon.

This is a good get imo. His age is only a number and he has had a couple of seasons where he didn’t play so hopefully his body is good to continue for longer.

From what I have seen of him he seems of good character which is not normally what u associate with collywobbles players and will be invaluable in helping JVR with forward craft.

It’s a win win imo.

He has his own office. With double glazed windows.

And his phone isn’t hooked up.

He also heated up a fish curry in the kitchen last week…
