I'm a member of the MCC and just received an email inviting me to respond to a survey about the MCC and the use of the MCG. I have used it to request that the gameday experience be improved by getting rid of the music. If you agree with that and are also invited to respond to the survey, please ensure you make the same comment.

I have also asked that those teams who use the MCG as their home ground not be required to have a home game at Marvel. I know that's not likely to change and is a decision of the AFL, not the MCC. But it's still worth saying.

I will also tell them to bring back the Spinach and Ricotta roll.

Gee whiz you'd be fun to have at a party....

I filled out the survey. Here’s what I asked for:

Whatever happened to the lovely young man in his Dinner jacket who used to play the Bugle at Melbourne home games? Bring him back.

We need more mature Gruyere on the menu in the Dining Room. No local substitutes either. I like my cheese like I like my bank accounts - Swiss. And…

It’s not enough to require members to wear a collared shirt. Security must be checking that the shirt is either Ralph Lauren, Trenery or Rodd and Gunn. Country Road is permitted for summer sports only. As per the current rules an R.M. Williams shirt will be allowed if the member is a Geelong Grammar alumni.

Absolutely no short sleeve shirts. This is a members club, not an Italian deli.

Warm Regards.

THBT, Esq.

When you can't hear the person next to you talk, the music is too loud.

Well said. I doslike the music but considered if others like it. Tge only ones who appear to get involved are a sprinking of kids who have some pre prepared dance moves hoping to get on the big screen.

I agree with LDC we are there for a football game not a heavy metal concert.

Please improve the quality of the MCC Shiraz

Jokes aside, a very average drop.

No-one ever invites me to parties.

Don't know why.

I am like you LDC, very happy that no one who likes that music leaves me off the list. I would happily support you but sadly I am not a MCC member. I do however complain about it on every footy survey. Result zero. I think there is more chance the Dees will win the next four games than the music being removed.

Can you also ask them to put the cup holders back in the redlegs/trident area. Sadly missed

Can we have an MFC survey…?

Clubs a joke, coach is a joke…

Are you a member? They send members surveys twice a year at least.

Gameday experience, music etc and Melbourne playing home games at Marvel has nothing to do with the MCC but thanks for filling in the survey.

Wouldn't put out a fire with it

Yeah coz that’s the topic of this thread 🙄

Agreed. You don’t go to a concert and expect to see/hear snippets of a footy match.

The Irish music at the Jim Stynes game was incredible everytime we kicked a goal

Don’t mean go all Karen on your arze, Wrecker, but that wasn’t Irish music. It’s a hymn called “Lord of the Dance” and it was written by an English songwriter and based on a traditional English carol. And I know this because Sr Margaret Mary used to make us sing it every single day at St Aloysius college much to my parents’ chagrin. 😝

Yes I get the surveys. Not very hard hitting.

So we didn't even get that right 😕

I have a couple of member friends who never get them 74. Inspire of contact to ask why they are not on the list. I often wonder if the results see the light of day to those running the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
