Whatโ€™s happened to Judd McVee? His form this year has dropped away dramatically. Missing a large chunk of pre season seems to be having an effect on his performances on match day.

Goal kicking. Practice on drop punts and proper set shots anytime soon?

And the. The forward setup.

3 mins left and our last two clean entries are kicked hard against the line in the forward pocket.

Is this under 12s footy?

this club seems to be so dumb and so slow to deal with problems that are obvious to everyone

They are clearly coached to do this. Goodwin 101.

we do a lot right but our deplorable skills let us down. we just can't capitalise on our good work.

kossie and melks the standouts

we have 2 highly paid players who are not giving us enough. clarry not near enough for the coin he is on

i reckon one has to be traded. Fritsch needs to go as well.

try and use whatever we get on skilled players.

It's like many times we do 90% of the things right even at elite level but that 10% we are missing, like fwd connection or kicking skills, makes us a subpar team.

We won't be anywhere near the top 8 until that 10% gap is erased.

Dont be ridiculous. Turner has shown repeatedly this year he a better footballer than his opponent and is saving the game, if not saving humanity, by playing down back.

He knows how to win a contested mark and is quick on his feet and reflexes. Our football department is very, very savvy and know exactly what they are doing playing him down back as we have multiple great young forwards that fulfil their role perfectly week in week out.

We need to try something as this set up is not working. You happy with same old same old then?

Well footy was enjoyable again for a little while. A couple of those early misses go through and the gap might have been just a bit m7ch for the crows to will themselves back into it. JVR taking grabs, Pickett being super dangerous, Melky in best form of career. Absolute signs of life

the problem with this is he's also our best key defender

peter, gotta pay paul

Soo.. dont try it. Gotcha. Carry on, then.

Do we now take the risk and drop Fritsch & Langdon?

Langdon got a heap of the ball but much of his disposal and decision making caused turnovers or stalled momentum. Big call, and other things are probably more important, but he epitomises our disposal woes. Play Langford & Lindsay on the wing and see how they go.

Fritsch is a great player at his best, but some of his efforts were simply soft and weak, and it has been like this for too long. Unsure who we play in his place but he has been a liability for too long.

Goodwin saving face for his next gig?

Trying not to lose very ugly just look half decent/competitive.

Windsor should be our wingman.

Langford and XL can share the other wing, Lindsay more defensively and Langford more offensively.

All about clearances.

We won the free count...marks... tackles...kicks... handballs but got smashed in the clearances.

interesting stats

Shows how we are trying to change our style. We used to smash clearances and not much else

Ive been calling for Turner up forward for 20 weeks, since the Richmond game last year. But what we're doing instead is also fun to watch.

I reckon Windsor will be a great wingman, but isn't he out for the rest of the season? If he is, then Langford and Lindsay on the wings. If not, Windsor onto the wing, Lindsay stays at half back.

But if Matthew Jefferson makes it as an AFL footballer then Iโ€™m the Dalai Lama.

Actually - that's entirely possible.

Really? What happened to him? Honestly I didn't know about it. [censored] luck, he just had a foot issue during the pre season.

Game was really lost on the back of not cashing in during the first quarter while we had momentum.

Adelaide were always going to get on top but to not put it on the scoreboard when we were playing well killed us.

I feel sorry for him but to me the jungle drums are well and truly beating for goody now.

Rivers, Langford, Picket and JV.

Move Petracca to 90% time at HF.

Oliver can spend the rest of the season at Casey.

Oliver had a better game than Trac while tagging Dawson.

Whatโ€™s Trac going to do at HF? Kick behinds?

What a bizarre game. I got to the end and couldn't believe it was 13 points. There were SO many poor Melbourne performances. I guess when Viney is in that kind of form, and you've got a bloke like Turner turning 50:50s into contested marks you're always in the game.

Tell you what... I thought I'd become inured to Ed Langdon turnovers. Nope. That was butchery like I haven't seen in decades. The Taciturn Household TV was seconds away from death by fly kick on at least a dozen occasions.

We kick straight in the first Q we would be 6 goals up at HT and we win

pathetic kicking from straight in front

I hate to have to say itโ€ฆ but Jeffo looks like a bust. Do we persist for more games in 25 or just cut our losses?

Reality is we have gone from 16 wins in 23 to 11 in 24 & lucky if we win 8 games โ€ฆ whilst relative healthy, thatโ€™s going backwards and yet the club wants to back Goodwin whilst our membership & gate receipts go down the drain not to mention whatever talent we have left will start requesting trades

Pathetic is the best description of our offensive (in)efficiency.

To use a Basketball analogy, these boys kick bricks.

And Reiwolt commented wondering why were 3 forwards running to the same pocket instead of spreading? Was that kick to the pocket the only option for the ball carrier, hard to tell from the TV?

Just look at Curnow over at blues to see the same thing, this is the time of year when it shows the most

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
