Roo should have handballed then

Ya reckon? I thought it was a pretty good pass.

Fritsch has no physicality and body work to make that work.

It was a pure one on one and it was a good kick.

We keep sending our big body forward right up the field but I get it.

The kid needs to keep getting the ball in his hands to build confidence.

But Kozzy has to roll back too, so apart from Melksham. We really don't have anyone.

I'd seriously think about trading Fritsch at end of season. I say it wilth sadness too because he has been great but not for the last two seasons.

Melksham take a bow. And god help us that our best forward is 34.

We are so frustrating to watch. Full credit to Melksham. The oldest player and the only one standing up. Another goal!

Melksham set shot. Goal 6 (from set shots)

That last play there sums up our forward line.

JVR has an empty goal square and forward line. Fritsch has a team mate streaming towards him.

Three options:

  1. Fritsch leads hard to space. JVR kicks to him. Clean shot on goal.

  2. Fritsch drags his opponent away or runs off him to create space. JVR even shoots at goal or kicks/handballs to a free Fritsch.

  3. JVR backs himself in and has a shot at goal.

None of the above happen. Fritsch jogs a lead. JVR does a chip kick 15 meters. Fritsch is spoiled, Crows get it out.

This team is actually unwatchable.

Just as I said. Melksham just did exactly what Fritsch doesn't.

pity melks isn't 5 years younger. our only forward with real smarts

Can’t win a clearance and can’t tackle. What the actual [censored] has happened to this midfield?

we need more of what Hibberd brought to our 21 team.

Yeah, running those straight lines out of defence instead of boundary hugging and handballs

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
