I know its early days and not writing the kid off but Tholstrup at pick 13 compared to Morris at pick 31 in the 2023 draft is looking like a head shaker.

🤦🙈

A MONSTROUS MISTAKE ON EVERY LEVEL!

As good as watching Cats lose, Lions being this good and looking likely to not miss a step in their rebuild on the fly and win another flag - aided by F/S and NGA - is everything wrong with the drafting system.

Much better seeing Geelong 6.15 than us. Also fantastic seeing Geelong lose well anytime really but major milestone games at that dump of a stadium.

Not sure what channel 7, AFL online and all the other broadcasting media are going to carp on about now. Who would have thought that it might not be a Pies v Cats GF?

The Lions have changed the conversation with that win.

Yeah. They cannot claim that they aren’t familiar with the dysmorphic excuse for a footy ground.

Surely another 20 million from the taxpayer (blowing out to 50 million of course) would address this.

Double down Hipwood.... 6 miserable possesions! How. Does he get a game? Useless

To have played 350 games is absolutely incredible, not many can boast such an achievement, and if this was almost anyone else I’d feel bad for them but seeing that smug p rick getting his comeuppance is so sweet. The cherry on top will be Scott’s presser 🤩

I want Jeffo to be a clone of Logan Morris.

And Caddy. Two young forwards (19 & 20) that I've watched the last 2 nights that show forward craft, getting out back then leading forward plus the players up the field pass the ball to them well. Oh well, as Ghostwriter mentioned, maybe, could of etc.

Do we think any of our players are listening to Logan Morris say he’s spent a lot of additional time working on his goal kicking. What a novel idea

I'd like our midfield to be a clone of Brisbanes.
They move with speed, are clean and kick with precision.
The anti Melbourne.

10 years ago almost to the day - Round 12, 21st of June 2015 - we had a memorable win at Mordor. Having not had a win for 10 years at that desolate sch!tt-hole of a ground, and with no one giving us any chance of winning, we beat them by 24pts. Big Maxy’s breakout game, and we rained on Corey Enright’s parade (his 300th game milestone).

It’s amazing how top clubs seem to find forward s Logan Morris 20y pick 31

That's when recruiters really earn their coin.
Not so tough to find players in the top 10.

I had the facebook memory come up this morning - with 9 News assuming they'd only need to prepare one headline!

Wow! That’s hilarious. That really shows how unexpected our win was

Perfect conditions, sunny afternoon at the G & both teams are kicking for goal badly.

Maybe we've passed on our curse

I reckon it will become more widespread. Modern footy (coaching & gameplan) does not focus enough on basic skills. Whatever side can take their chances on a given day wins. Exhausted forwards running all over the oval as part of a defensive network appears to be more valuable than accurate goal kicking.

poor conversion by carlton lets north back into it

they are right in this north

Carlton's only game is based on contested ground ball. North are matching or even beating them at it, and Carlton has no answer. Great footy from a bunch of young players.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
