Whatโ€™s Howes going to be doing?

My guess he's the sub in case of injury to Lever or more likely if they take off a forward and move Turner forward.

But really I have no idea

Any news on why Tmac no in the team .. thought he payed well all season??

Cause he played last night for Casey. We seriously have some part-timers on this site

Howes was earmarked a while ago as someone who can play wing. So possibly wing or perhaps half back and Windsor goes back to wing.

I think Howes was sort of pushed into a backline role out of necessity, but itโ€™s not necessarily where the club wants him to play long term.

He is a beautiful user of the footy, and good overhead. So actually wing is a role he would be well suited to.

Of course the other option is he replaces Turner down back and we play Turner Roo and Petty up forward, which has been my dream all year!

Right now he doesn't have one pf. NGE. However I do agree he has been better than JVR. I think JVR has been picked on the promise from 2023 because hasn't shown a lot since.

JVR is in ahead of Jefferson because he can ruck. End of story. Itโ€™s not that deep.

I know that, my question is why has he been dropped the last few games

Why the Kolt? he has done little against what are probably the two worst sides in the VFL at present. Surely if you are dropped because of poor form you need the show you have improved at a lower level. Seems not.

Is Tholstrup selected on vibes? Cause thereโ€™s no other reason for him to be in the side

It's certainly not because of form Jaded.

Jefferson is still soft as butter, rest for once.

The fact is Howes is a panic merchant who has done Ok but thats at Casey. Petty the obvious one down back and let JVR, Jeffo and maybee Disco get some synergy. But no Goodwin again rewards mediocrity! Selection at Dees is a bloody raffle!๐Ÿคข

Leftfield..but Howes to be sub and play a potential medium forward role if needed (Melk) IMO. Obviously he can play tall and small in defence too should injury strike, and also allows us to put Disco forward later in the game

PF I don't think you can play Jefferson and JVR together. Neither is good defensively and if they don't mark they contribute very little.

Good to see JVR back in

Jeffo has not earned it yet after his pathetic performance last AFL game

Howes is an interesting one

T Mac played vfl so not a surprise

Howe is pretty good sub option I reckon.

Offers terrific flexibility.

As you say he can play back, tall and small and at a pinch, as you suggest, forward.

But he can also play wing, releasing the boson to play as a mid or replacing him or Lindsay.

I understand van rooyens selection. I just hope he clunks his marks, but Howes & koltyn selection is a head scratcher.

I love koltyns enthusiasm but he hasn't been the player I thought he'd would have been.

Howes well just do something.

Best thing the AFL has done was to make the announcement of tomorrowโ€™s game 20 hrs prior to bounce. Can you imagine two days of this shiiittt on pregame?

At least maybe sub for Jeffo. Jvr is there for Max. But your not alone in being over Petty. But that's probably too much change in our fwd line.

But Petty doesn't mark enough for me or goal either. He's a very good defender due to his athletic abilities but he's not a forward despite the many chances he's had. This is what frustrates me with Goody. Maybe Turner will go forward instead.

I'm tipping Roo to have a solid comeback.

Turner, Jvr, Melksham and Fritta would be a decent forward line and all are usually accurate.

Gotta feel for Jeffo though. He'll get there. But here's hoping the previous four make it tough for him.

As much as I don't mind the selections I shudder to think if Lever gets into one on one against either Mihocek or McStay. Hes a real liability down back and i feel we've dropped the ball on this one with McDonald not in.

JVR was always going to get the nod purely on being able to ruck. Let's get him back into form now!

Tholstrup just needs more exposed form and experience. If he is going to be an important part of our talent moving forward then let's get games into him.

Howes has actually been dominating at Casey. Reward for form. Collingwoods forward line is elite. He could take either Elliot or Hill.

Would have loved to have found a spot for Jefferson but who do you take out in return?

Where are you going to hide the Kolt? I would have him as the sub. The kolt is a low scoring forward player who doesn't seem to display the skill need at senior level.

Itโ€™s a wet weather side playing a side that have the most potent small forward line in the competition.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: โ€œThen came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.โ€ Today, weโ€™re back in the same place although oneย difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, โ€œIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, โ€ฆโ€ย  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
