Love the enthusiasm but in simple terms you need 14 wins plus percentage to make the final eight.

That means we can only lose three more games and to increase percentage we will need three wins by more than 50 points.

Not seeing it.

Please check your facts before commenting. Last year 8th was 13 wins and 110 percentage (13 and 103 would've bettered 9th). Two years 12.5 and 110 was enough.(12 and 109 would've still bettered 9th) In the 22 game era usually 12 and maybe 105 was enough. But some years 11 or 11.5 wins was enough. So overall 13 and 110 would rarely miss nowadays, with 12 possibly doing it .

We have too many flaws. But 9-5 and percentage boosters or closer games and 10-4 is plausible. (And if we average about 93 to 75, including those 10 wins, in the last 14 games we get to around 103)

We screwed up after 21 the game was changing and we persistent with the 21 game style we bit ourselves in the 🍑🍑 the pies have changed again and adapted with their game style big changes are needed and a reset from the football department.

This theory is hogwash. Injuries cruelled us in 22 and 23. Sheesh in 23 you put Petty, Melksham and Gus in that side and we’re every chance 2 flags in the bag. Yes 24 and 25 were and are disappointing but we’re midway through transforming our list and game style. We’re miles from a basket case and whilst I don’t disagree FD changes are needed we’re on the right path. Remember we’ve also dealt with Oliver going off the rails, Petracca missing half of last year and losing Gus 5 years early. No club recovers from that overnight.

Imagine taking Daicos, Pendlebury and Sidebottom out of the Pies side in 23, do they win the Flag? Hell no, not even close.

Blues made it in on 13 wins last year

Are we though, May, lever, Viney, trac, Oliver, Salem, Landon, tmac, melksham, fritsch are all past there best and some significantly so and Gawn is just defying gravity. Even with our picks over the last few years we aren’t even close to replacing most of them, let alone who we already lost in Pig, Brayshaw, Jackson, Ben Brown and ANB

Unfortunately even if Langford, Linsey, Windsor and JVR all turn out to be guns and rivers, Pickett, bowey all continue to step up I don’t see enough talent coming in see us back in finals, outside eagles id say every side has just as much young talent.

The only way at the we get back into contention is bringing player via free agency or trade (like we did with May and lever) unfortunately we have struggled for a while now to attract people to the club so not sure how that changes.

Lever, Viney, Petracca, maybe Oliver, Langdon all have 2-5 years left, Max 1-2 more plus we continue to add new recruits to go with Lindsay, Langford, Windsor, Bowey, Turner, JVR, Petty, Pickett, Kolt. We’re not far off

You clearly wear rose-colored glasses too often. I said after round 10 in 2022 that we would not win another the flag; the same in 2023 and 2024. Blind Freddy could see that, and stop using Gus as an excuse for the club, as unfortunately, Gus was always one concussion away from having to retire for his health. And If you cannot see how the game has changed since 2021, well, I guess that's your problem. As for the point about the Pies, one doesn't know, and we never will, if they would or wouldn't have won the flag, but they changed their style for that flag, and they have changed again, and good for them.

We have had problems in the forward part of the game since 2022. Goodwin has said that for the last three and a bit years, so tell me what has changed since then that has improved the connection. As the game has changed, Oliver and Viney struggle when the game is played on the outside and not in a contested situation. Max unfortunately struggles when he plays against ruckmen who jump into him at the center bounce, which takes away an advantage. As I have said, Stevie Wonder and other posters could see the faults, except you, or you don't want to accept it.

I haven’t said we don’t have faults but if you won’t recognise the impact of injuries to a team that never had great depth then it’s easy to blame everything else. The coach, the game plan, the boot studder. On KB in 23 we easily accounted for Collingwood as we were better than they were. We had them on toast in that final and you can’t tell me that if Gus, Petty and Melksham were playing we wouldn’t have more than likely beaten them and their wizz bang game plan. It ain’t rose coloured glasses it’s fact.

And if my auntie had balls she would have been my uncle would've could've should've and do you think our game style is a winner?

It's difficult predicting past the current year (and even then there'll be surprises if come October you look at the Round 9 ladder). If we have, say, pick 39 at the end of the year and surprises everyone winning next year's Rising Star and his second Brownlow a few years after clearly our future will be a lot more pleasantly surprising. Of course I hope every staff member is trying their best to improve the team short and long-term. But as fans there's no point worrying too much about it. We may be better than you think. Who knows? At best we're making educated guesses.

Not dead but season is over, not getting any better. Three wins against easy sides.

With another possible 3 gives us 6 for the season. Basket case stuff! Need a fresh approach starting with coach and ancilleries!

If you can’t see why Melksham is so important in a very young forward line & with an out of form Fritsch …then all other points you make are invalid.

Wrong about one thing, wrong about everything. Got it.

Guess I can see into the future then as I could see the gameplan was not going to give us another premiership with this group with the same gameplan then, the decline was there to be seen so tell me where I was wrong....

With the Eyes of the World ... well the AFL media on us you would expect a Ripple in the performance this Sunday. Especially from those Playing in the Band team at the Gabba. I'm not trying to Sugar Magnolia the forward line availability and form issues, but at 2 metres, Black Peter... Wright would be a handy mid-year addition. Unfortunately there's no quick fix in the shadow of the post Franklin's Tower ing presence. Tall forwards of that ilk don't appear suddenly like a New Speedway Boogie. Given the gloom of the veil of negativity afflicting some posters DL is a bit of a Brokedown Palace. Enough tears must have flown amongst the faithful for a Box of Rain to have suddenly puddled at the 'G. Afraid it's Scarlet Begonias and fuchsias Demon fans.

I’m not telling you you were wrong I’m saying you’re hindsighting it now

Love the positivity of this thread.

Hard to see sometimes, and while there is a parallel to be drawn with the hawks, we would need to lift off NOW and maintain. And that includes correcting a lot of stuff that is a non-negotiable - like running games out, and being competitive in the last quarter. Kicking accurately. And it's hard to see those things just clicking out of nowhere.

But, I am an optimist. You have to be following this club. Therapy is too expensive haha

So, I agree. We are not dead. I believe we can still play finals, then it's anyone's game.

But we can't afford many slips (like the Hawks, who were flying last year).

Maybe they mean that even if we won those 2 finals and the flag back then, they already knew our gameplan would never give us another flag. (Where is that sarcasm emoji I keep asking for?).

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
