If Tigers fans were like Demons fans (with Jordon etc) theyโ€™d be - why did we let Higgins go?

Oh we won a flag and he was on the fringes and wanted to leave

Get with the modern game... It's about risk, turnover and getting an easy goal.

This is the way

Dunno why I'm even watching this.
Tuned in at half time and it's just as ugly as one of our games.
Gotta save my ugly footy watchin' energy for tomoz.

Ross Lyon is the master of boring football. Unwatchable battle of attrition.

Harry McKay kicking the sealer from the boundary. Excellent goal. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Just got home. Watched the game from the top tier of the members with two mates who are Blues supporters. They enjoyed the moment. That is what footy moments are about. I actually hope Harry enjoyed it too. We all have our struggles and I thought it was good for him.

Overall I also thought Saints were brave. Theyโ€™ve got some good youngsters too.

a close game is an entertaining game

I challenge you to watch it again.

From the parts I watched, seemed like St Kilda's marking in connections kept them in the game, but their fumbling kept them out of it. Strange seeing the Saint's disposal efficiency being okay, but then you realise that a lot of those fumbles weren't even disposals but simply failing to pick up the ball cleanly and that sort of thing.

Carlton supporters will be very pleased with the whole-team moment of gut running to lock up every St Kilda opponent as the Saints tried to bring it back quickly from a kick in. I think it ended in a Saad spoil-tackle which then led to the McKay sealer.

I'm happy for McKay personally. Always good to see a redemption arc go 50m and through the middle.

Essendon giving Sydney a thrashing in Q1 is the third game today to make me furious. JJ running too far with the ball, FMD.

The second game needs no explanation.

The first game was my sonโ€™s Div 5 u14 basketball team that lost 97-0 thanks to the club submitting a second team, made up of Div 1 and 2 players who turned down playing in the champ comps so they could โ€œall play together with their matesโ€. All arrogant elite private school flogs too obviously. Way to make the game not fun for kids who are just having a dip.

Might just call the day a bust and go to bed.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
