Will be tough but win this and I feel we may just have our season back on track.

Here's hoping

A lot resting on Fritta, Petty and Kozzie.

But that last name makes such a difference.

There is intense media focus on the Eagles. Just in time for our game…

There was ann internal, player lead intervention with coaches and footy staff yesterday about the mounting displeasure of their performance this year.

I’d expect a massive response from the eagles, but as is with these things, if we can withstand the intial pressure and put ourselves in front, I can see them falling apart pretty quickly. If, however we give them a sniff, then we are in big trouble.

Last week's game against the Sqawkers suggests otherwise ( i.e. that they won't simply fall apart )

Just our luck that the Weagles might want to make this a statement game....

I think Tom Campbell will play replacing Fullarton. I also think Tom will share more of the ruckwork with Max than perhaps Fullarton did.

Yep I’d be happy with that, let’s hope Goodwin can see the sense in it also

This is a real danger game. Eagles are under the pump and are still winless.

I think it was our first fixture against the Eagles last year where Harley Reid annouced himself and kicked GOTY against Trac. He's had a fairly average start to 2025, but he's going to be up and about I reckon...

I’ll forever be traumatised playing games over there after the 2018 prelim no matter how bad the eagles are and all we’ve achieved at that ground since. I’d like to think we still owe them one after the Harley Reid show over there last year and I think the boys are up for it knowing this game means we can get out season back on track.

Must neutralise Waterman He an Reid killed us last year.

Viney to Reid

I worry about May these days.

Gets injured Slowing down

Think he's done...

So this week some of the leadership group and coaches at the eagles had a meeting to discuss their direction as a club given their on field results.

You watch em come out and beat us this weekend ha ha ha. We may have to slightly improve our last quarter output 😜

Timing is everything.

Dont be so miserable old mate.

Yes, this is a danger game, but we've won 2 in a row. 1st as rank outsiders and 2nd as favourites.

Looking forward to sitting at the cheer squad end with my son and seeing a solid win!

Before the match send your son over to the front of the cheer squad bay and we’ll give him a flag to wave or a handheld banner or even a giant head (if we bring them over). 🥰

Leaders of the West Coast playing group have reportedly held an “intervention” in a bid to turn around its woes after the worst start to an AFL season in the club’s history.

Didn't really read like they're galvanised. More rusted to pieces.

Max to rest

Tom Campbell to play

Not so sure. Last time TC kicked a goal at AFL level was nearly 4 years ago (Rd 10 2021).

I'd prefer AJ. More chance of adding to our score. Unlike TC can rest forward.

This has WC's first win of the season written all over it

Has anyone used the Mcqualter intel line yet?

It's easy just copy last week's about Yze and change one word.

Usual beat up nonsense from Caro

Boils down to the LG meeting with coaches as they are winless and playing terribly. You'd be shocked if there wasn't such meeting happening regularly

My demeanour toward the Dees is not of misery.

It's just a realistic (to me) appraisal of where we are.

We aren't where we could/should be

I'll be happily surprised by a win. I just have a sense that unless we are in ascendancy at 3/4 ( and by decent margin) then I think our Achilles Heel will trip us up...again.

We're the walkabout warriors.. play 3 qtrs then go missing.

That's not just my impression... that's fact.

The "Quarters" thread bears this view out.

Go Dees

Goodwin should walk if we lose to Meth Coke, and kick 1 goal in the last Quarter

His core job is to get the very best out of the players he ultimately selected for the game. If he wants to keep the Head Coaching job we need to be on a decent winning streak…

They will have a full session on Gosch's tomorrow.

Hopefully no soccer balls.

It will be good to see what they are working on.

Last time we got a giant Steven May head so will certainly be back for novelty props haha

Would be cool to put a face to anuser name if you're over for the match!

Tom Campbell is a MUCH better ruckman and footballer than A.J on ANY day!

Im confident this week. Our young guys are bringing their own enthusiasm and recharging the group. Like to see Campbell come in and free up Max to make them panic down back.

If I participated in the skipping championships it would only be as the halftime entertainment. I’m the clumsiest klutz ever there was.

I’m going to the match on Saturday. Same day fifo. I’ll hate myself on Sunday but that’s Sunday Me’s problem. I did it last year and swore up and down and black and blue I’d never, ever do it again. But here we are 🙃

Yeah I’ll be there, most likely front row on a flogger. Definitely come say hello! I’ll be the one in red and blue 🤭 (cheer squad joke, never not funny… to us anyways).

From when gates open until half an hour after the siren I’ll be there, except for half an hour or so from 4:30 when I’ll be out on the ground for banner. Not gonna lie… I teared up when told I’d be stepping onto the turf at Optus. ❤️💙

If only off field talk and home truths made a difference we wouldnt have started 0-5. Good on the leadership group for talking it up a notch but on field there are a generational rabble . Half their midfield cant cover the ground or win a clearance (especially the chosen one), their coach has no idea and their captain is meeting other clubs. Of course no game is taken lightlly but if we cant win comfortably we are not serious. But i think we are. 50 points+

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
