Why do clubs and their presidents let him get away with it

Pathetic

He needs to be flattened

It’s funny isn’t it - even if we leave the Brayshaw stuff out of the conversation I’ve only ever viewed him as a sniper and yet he’s lauded as tough

Collingwood are right up there as a team i enjoy the most watching in full flight.

Well, I must admit I haven't seen a lot of Collingwood games, but it appears they have changed the gameplan again. One has to be impressed with it .......

Funnily enough it seems like it’s built on contest and defence… with a turnover twist

Funny how Darcy gets through a concussion test with that knee to the head… and yet was seeing stars with a glancing Kozzy shoulder after going to ground in Rd 24 last year.

Collingwood or GWS would be the #1 seed as of now.

Geelong might have something to say about that.

Already have wins over Fremantle and Adelaide, and if they beat Hawthorn on Monday that will probably be the best suite of defeated opponents anyone has. With their two losses by a combined 16 points.

Not all of it was that was just one part.

Half of both teams are protected species.

Melbourne might have been very poor this year, but that was even worse by a (5-0) Brisbane tonight on their home ground.

at least lions have won a game, oh wait they've won 5 and we have won none

they would roll us even with that performance

Yes, agreed. If Geelong get up this weekend, they’d have claims for #1.

Time will tell but pies have topped up well with strengthening their fwd, compared to us trading vfl players

Mihocek was a VFL player.

( so was no. 22 for Essendon)

Ironically its always funny watching Melbourne supporters on here giving shade to the likes of Brisbane and Collingwood whilst our very own club rots away down the bottom.

I enjoy watching Collingwood play and would dream to have the game style they have. It's fun, exciting and brings their supporters through the gates.

I legitimately have more excitement in watching Casey play this weekend over our snooze fest AFL club.

You called Collingwood before rd 1 and nobody listened.

It's really sad that it's come to this. They run so hard both ways and just get the ball forward with handballs and kicks that aren't always perfect but they are just always about in numbers. Hope to hell they fall over at some point.

One of the reasons he's become such a good player who's long been underrated is he knows his role in the team. I'd bet my last dollar if JVR played for Collingwood he'd be a 60 plus goal kicker right now. That's the issue with our club atm, we're starting to destroy careers. Bar Chandler and Bowey everyone else has gone backwards. Even Windsor barely gets a touch atm. Rivers has fallen off a cliff, Turner barely gets to the seniors, Petty is a shadow of the past player, Fritsch won't go near it, the list goes on. These are the guys who should be leading our club right now, instead we're hoping Gawn, who can no longer jump, will last forever, that May will suddenly recapture form we haven't seen since 23 and Lever is injured as usual. We need to turn this around fast. We are miles off the good sides and even further behind if you look at the club as a whole. Yes I'm despondent. I love watching footy and I expected we'd maintain a standard as Geelong and others have done. The template is there. We didn't evolve, we didn't keep adding better and better people, we tried to stick with the 21 model which was dead at the end of the 23 season. Time for some change is probably now but I hope we're looking at assistants and managers from Geelong, Sydney, Collingwood and GWS.

The sooner Goodwin is gone the better.

Been saying this for weeks, but there’s a theme on here that to execute the modern gameplan every player has to be an elite kick and have pace to burn, not the case at all.

It's not just Goodwin, we need change across the entire club I think.

Get it forward, our run and out compete the opposition.

Agreed but that will take time, I believe if Goodwin was to be sacked / step down this weekend things would change on the field a week later, we’ve seen this many times before. This year is cooked, time to reset, release the shackles and get some games into Jeff, Brown etc…

And hopefully push Essendons first pick back a few spots.

Exactly, last night was clinical but their last two games against Sydney and Carlton had a lot of ordinary entries inside fwd 50 but it went in quickly, low and into an open fwd line giving Hill, Elliot and DeGoey plenty of space to work in. We could do something similar win Kosi, Fritsch and Trac but no.

Highlights how poor our list mgt is compared to the last 3 premiers who have bolstered their lists, we are dropping JVR & Fritsch & bringing in Fullerton who hasn’t been able to get a game since 2024! Goodwin strategy is mind boggling with a VFL bey drops Turner last week & doesn't play Fullerton & picks them this week?? He’s destroying JVR career playing him as a ruck, the young kid must be confused!

With the Pies it is pretty simple.

About 8 - 10 very skilled ball handlers.

The best player in the game. A brother also an excellent player.

More AFL experience than any other side.

Total buy in and selflessness by the players.

Pace to burn.

Reasonable goal kicking skill.

Well coached.

Ability to recruit players from other clubs.

To a lesser extent, huge support which probably leads to favorable umpiring on nearly every occasion. Can you see the 78m penalty being given against the Pies or the soft free to McStay for a goal, or the ridiculous DeGoey free where he dropped an opponent not in play, all paid at crucial times. A bunch of mates in the MRO and Tribunal also helps.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
