If there is any way out of this hole itโ€™s through a circuit breaker, either Goodwin needs to go now or he needs to start dropping senior players who arenโ€™t giving there all, even if they are still best 22, nothing is going to change if the club accepts mediocrity. We have to many players coasting probably not helped by giving them long term contracts and a weak leader ship from the board down. Perhaps if players like Gawn or viney spent a week or 2 in the vfl they might find the hunger again

Gawn was epic last night. Why would you drop him?

Also have to take my hat off to Bowey, he really made me eat my words frim a few weeks ago - glad he responded to my criticism;)

To me players like Salem, JVR, Sparrow, Viney, Rivers are the ones that are really underperforming.

Trac and Oliver are playing as average midfielders but not in deopable territory.

Fritta had a better game.

Given that Griffiths was hand-picked by Burgess as his successor and then had a year under his wing to learn the ropes, they did and they are.

(I know that's not the answer you were looking for.)

It's not fitness, not in a physiological sense anyway. Psychological having an impact on physical performance is something else. You're always less fit when you're losing and vice versa.

No, thatโ€™s exactly the answer I was looking for. Thanks.

I'll pot fans for carrying on like they are entitled to see a premiership side roll-out just because you buy a membership.

Saddle up part time supporters

I think expecting the bare minimum as a membership holder is pretty fair.

Did anyone pick up on this? Of course it's Melbourne that let this rabble beat their highest possession count in 7 years.

What can you say Dazzle/ We find ourselves here again on the edge of some footy abyss

This team is playing without desire and devoid of spirit

Miracle time

Has the president made any comment yet?

Smashed. Again.

But this time against a nowhere team.

Might be time to make the โ€˜back to hellโ€™ DVD because there are dark days ahead.

Are we still learning and loving? ๐Ÿค”

"Against a nowhere team"? If supporters are calling for a coach's head because we're not winning every single quarter or every single game, then half the Club's supporters also need to go for having such little respect for the opposition. NO-ONE in this competition is a 'nowhere team' - not even WC. It's almost an effing miracle to get to a GF these days, let alone win one, and on any given day, any team can beat another. Disrespect them at your peril.

Agree with what you're saying.

I didn't say they should not be respected on the day. You should face every team with respect, it's how not to become complacent and make silly, lazy errors. We are certainly guilty of a fair bit of this in recent times dropping games we should not have.

But that does not mean the Bombers aren't a dud side. Sorry, can't convince me. Eagles, oof. a 71 point drubbing against a side that was seriously struggling. Percentage under 50. The only game they probably feel confident of winning is against us over there. They may be a nowhere team (at least to me), but we were/are worse. At least right now.

The McCrisis Cup, as I hear it to be!

I couldn't care less about his extra marital activities. I want him for his footy nous not to preach about morality.

Well said.

Burgess seemed to give Melbourne an edge in the Flag year, but he wasn't a magician. He went to Adelaide and since then they've finished bottom four twice and were unlucky to miss the eight once.

The shocking last quarters may look like fitness. They may even have a fitness component to them, but they look to me more like a team incapable of dealing with the natural changes towards the end of a game as both teams fatique.

We have really poor skills. They get worse. We have and massive problems with pressure around the ball (numbers to the ground ball, tackling, making space for teammates). That drops off further. We can't hurt teams on the turnover. That becomes more crucial (and theoretically easier) at the end of the game.

Not calling out Gawn specifically for that game but just more any player who looks to be coasting vs what you would expect, certainly Gawn has done that in several games this year.

If I look at some of our rookies and lesser players this year they still seem to be giving there all even if they arenโ€™t as good. I just want see the team at the end of the game win or lose and know they couldnโ€™t have done anything more which isnโ€™t the case this year.

You can see it the Deeโ€™s of 2021 for a qtr here and there but then the effort drops again the gut run to make the next contest isnโ€™t there players start walking or jogging and give there opponents to much room then the whole system breaks down and players start pointing fingers, none of this is a skill just effort

To be fair, youโ€™d have to living under a rock to argue with a straight face that supporters are after Goodwin because โ€˜weโ€™re not winning every single quarterโ€™.

Thatโ€™s pretty delusional.

No he hasn't

his form is well down for sure but he has definitely not been coasting.

They no, his partner no. Thereโ€™s a photo of his two daughters holding up untrasound photos. I just found it amusing people put Fritschโ€™s poor form down to the birth of his child, nothing to do with our gameplan / delivery inside 50 / club as a whole.

On a side note hopefully heโ€™s having a boy.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
