The Casey Demons have a bye and then take on the Giants at home next week and should have a strong side with some good players coming back in from injury.

Hoping Jai Culley plays a full game and gets over 20 possessions and kicks a goal or two.

If he wants to take his chances to play AFL again he needs to make the selectors take notice.

Assuming we don't make many changes to the senior team next week, Casey is going to look incredibly strong.

Forward line of Fullarton, Turner and Jefferson. Tholstrup back for a mid/fwd role and perhaps McVee to get minutes as well if not immediately put into the seniors.

Tholstrup and McVee will make their way into the seniors fairly quickly I would think.

Need to give McVee and Throlstrup a run for Casey next weekend. Both should be ready to play. Not sure about Kentfield. I think he also will be available.

Hopefully Casey also gets to add Spargo to the team next week.

Jefferson and Turner in out side reminds me of how we messed up Fidges career. He starred on the full back of the century in a reserves final but never made his mark. With big forwards unless you are a freak you need to give them a lot of support and backing to build their confidence.

Good luck to Riley Bonner, our only rep in the VFL State Side to play SA as part of the Gather Round.

Casey lost two of its prime recruits at this equivalent time last year so, fingers crossed 😀

The VFL had a week due to the state game. The week before we played Geelong and lost the best players were Laurie, Fullerton and Johnson.

I did post to drop van Rooyen but after Goodwin's presser he is still backing his players so van Rooyen will stay in the seniors but I think Sharp and Henderson will be dropped for McVee and Fullerton.

Possible line up

B: Smith, Adams, Bonner

HB: Howes, Turner, Sestan

C: Billings, Laurie, Woewodin

HF: Sharp, Johnson, Henderson

F: Mentha, Jefferson, Kentfield

FOLL: Verrall, Tholstrup, Culley

IC: Hardie, Baldi, Brown, Cross, Yze

Why can't they just roll-in some filler players and keep going during the state game week? It's mad that the AFL teams propping the competition up lose a week of player development for semi-professional State Of Origin.

Will be a very strong Casey forward line.

Also looking forward to seeing Leek Aleer, Wade Derkson, James Leake and Phoenix Gothard from the Giants.

Now that the seniors have been finalised I'll try and predict my Casey team.

B: Smith, Adams, Bonner

HB: Howes, Bryce, McVee

C: Billings, Laurie, Woewodin

HF: Sestan, Johnson, Henderson

F: Fritsch, van Rooyen, Jefferson

FOLL: Campbell, Culley, Hardie

IC: Brown, Verrall, Mentha, Baldi, Yze

Except the emergencies Fritsch, Howes, Henderson will need to be at the G?

That would be the strongest team that we have fielded at Casey for some time.

Only 1 of them the other 2 can play.

Got to the right places and some good intercepts / defensive work against the Cats but alot of work ahead for Howes with ball in hand for mine.

Far from convincing.

As previously iterated I'll be going to watch the CASEY Game and for once won't have to endure the outside the fence presence with slitheras. I'll update when I can. Then home to watch the main game!

Henderson and Howes not selected for Casey. Late changes?

Good to see Dees persist with Kirkwood-Scott. He has elite footskills and one youngster who might be handy to consider at years end.

Roy George. Let’s see what he can do excite the Casey faithful.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
