I imagine Airfares and Hotel Rooms are about 8x the normal price. Uber Rides around the City will be peak

I think the whole thing stinks

Think of it as SA's revenge for Vic tying up the GF for 20 odd years.

It's a good product but needs to be stretched over two weeks to offer a reasonable chance for fans to attend. There's not many hotel rooms in Adelaide in the scheme of things

2 weeks!!! No way 😎

I do agree with you on Hotel Rooms over there. I have always had to pay top 💰for any accommodation when i have needed to be there

BTW. Is that the useless bastard that WE usually get?

No, that useless bastard is officiating at our game. 🤬

You can't find a room for 100kms when the cricket's on and that's only a crowd of 35.

Perhaps split it over Perth and SA on one weekend assuming those two States would pay

Football festivals are fun if they're run well

How does a 35 yo Dangerfield kick 4, how do they get players like Cameron & Smith & we trade in zero

Amazing to see Danger running riot at 35 while we have a couple of “so called” stars who are cooked mentally if not physically in their late 20’s!

Watching the crows forwards It’s frustrating & unbelievable how our club hasn’t been able to develop & trade in any power forwards to maximise our premiership window!

i said years ago we should have traded that peanut in weideman who cant even get a game in the vfl for fogarty or georgiades from port

If we had generous billionaire sponsors who would gift properties, vehicles and lucrative sponsorship deals to players and their families it would help.

Also high IQ footballers, not sure where we are on that front...

Yep throw that in there also.

Don’t forget there was no 6-6-6 when we had Burgess

Much easier to defend in 21

Umm, that rule was introduced in 2019. It's not hard to check these things.

As annoying as he is, you have to admire what danger is doing & what he did last night.

This is the level & skill Oliver & petracca have to consistently get to

Agree .. let’s not forget the state gvt have giving 140 mill to redevelop their stadium over the last 15yrs whilst we are stuck training on a paddock & driving 50 mins to Casey & a pipe dream horse racing track as a training centre

22 Nathan Williamson. He’s a shocker. Always gives Dees a bad run. We can only hope this changes this weekend!!

I dont think we have stars who can influence a game like 35 year old Danger is capable of

Would love to CP have a go at being such a star

We can hope to win Tattslotto this weekend, too. That’s probs more likely to happen. 😅

So does Bailey Smith cop the same rhetoric for his middle finger salute to the crowd as Harley Reid. Or is it OK because.... Geelong.

You know, you can make your point without resorting to insulting name-calling. As someone over the age of five, you know that, right?

Other than the configuration of the MCG this idea of Melbourne Storm's CEO (Justin Rodski) makes a lot of sense.

Rodski has been campaigning for the Storm to take advantage of the AFL leaving the state for Gather Round by playing a Storm versus New Zealand Warriors game at the MCG in future, which he said could be a platform for Melbourne to steal a future NRL decider from Sydney.

Given its record of strong crowds for State of Origin games, Rodski believes a successful Storm game at the MCG when the AFL vacates Victoria for a week and heads to Gather Round would make a strong case for the Victorian government to put in a bumper bid to bring the grand final to Melbourne.

“I don’t see any reason why the NRL shouldn’t consider the MCG and why the Victorian Government shouldn’t consider the NRL grand final,” Rodski said.

Pre covid I always had a second team to cushion the blow of MFC failure. Now I can't be bothered.

For 2025 it's Melbourne Storm and Oscar Piastri for me.

I suspect I'm not alone

Following the storm is great. Yes I have sat through lost grand finals, but this team has given me premierships & finals appearances in my lifetime more than the dees have. They are consistent & have a wonderful coach.

Also while everyones at gather round the storm are playing on Sunday here in Melbourne & it's a sell out.

Adelaide almost kicked half of our total season goal tally in one night. In a loss.

Ugh it’s gonna be one of those nights.

I’m running out of threads that are bearable.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
