Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week.

Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels.

In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal.

Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs.

Sundayโ€™s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle.

In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants.

The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide.

Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

Pity Saints v GWS is at Norwood, shapes as the game of the round to me.

We will be shunted to the South Australian countryside next year. People should book now in the Barossa Valley.

We're lucky the Whyalla foundries don't have a playing field.

Hmm, great idea, thanks for the idea. I'll start planting the seed with Mrs Right tonight!!

Haven't taken her to the Barossa before.

The last few rounds have had so many dud matches

I see now they have saved them all up for gather round so they can claim the TV numbers as a success

Meanwhile a couple hundred thousand supporters miss out of seeing their team

tipping:

  • crom?

  • filth?

  • gc17

  • baggers

  • bears

  • them

  • flagmantle

  • gw$?

  • dingley?

at this stage of the season the best result for us is probably keeping the ladder 'bunched' with the exception of the teams directly above us - baggers, tigs, peptides, north - getting wins on the board

Hard to believe that this time last year THIS TEAM (only Lever and McVee out for Bowey and Melksham) had just beaten Port Adelaide and Adelaide at Adelaide Oval within 5 days, and then beat the league leaders in Geelong 3 weeks later. Out of all the horrendous on and off field happenings, these achievements just gets buried under everything.

Heading to 5 of the 8 non MFC games.

Pies/Sydney and Saints/GWS the pick of the bunch.

Will Day is out for up to 4 months I saw today.... will be interesting to see how badly that affects the Hawks top 4 chances.

footyfest! take that lees and west!!

yes, it's really disheartening how much we have dropped off

i used to go to norwood oval every second week in the mid 90s - great place to watch footy

in other news, will day has re-injured his troublesome foot and will miss months

rankine's calf is playing up and he might miss for the crom

injuries suck

Not related to this week but Luke Jackson could miss our game with a hammy.

Probably won't make much of a difference tot he result but it's hard to watch a former Dee dominate you game after game.

nah, pear vs dingley comes at the conclusion of gil's round

tailor-made for broadcast back to victoria

Pre covid I always had a second team to cushion the blow of MFC failure. Now I can't be bothered.

For 2025 it's Melbourne Storm and Oscar Piastri for me.

I suspect I'm not alone

Spot on DJ. I am similar I have zero desire for this stupid [censored] in Adelaide. However we are back to the old days of the season over in April. Very familiar territory. As a fellow demon supporter said to me this morning the only left is picking the size of the loss.

Still trying to work out the value and point of Gather Round.

The Media love it. They can all stay at 5 Star Hotels and drink free booze and tell us all what a great time they are having

For all the players and Coaches it must be a huge inconvenience, where some grounds are not really at AFL standards.

Gather Round is just so Andrew Dillon, a pointless excercise that he is so proud ofโ€ฆ

  • GAMEDAY: Western Bulldogs

It's Game Day and the Demons will be running out on the field with a new Head Coach, albeit a caretaker, for the first time in 3,060 days when they face the Western Bulldogs at the MCG today. What do you want to see from the Demons in the first match of the Post Simon Goodwin era?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: โ€œThen came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.โ€ Today, weโ€™re back in the same place although oneย difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, โ€œIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, โ€ฆโ€ย  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
