To get better first round picks.

Which is a rebuild, no?

We've already seen the benefits this season with both Lindsay and Langford. They both come straight in and fill a roll.

We've done it once to get better picks, last year, for a player who was probably ready to go.

A rebuild to me is slashing the salary cap, trading out top 10 calibre players to accumulate more picks and focussing predominately on youth.

There are a dozen other clubs who could say the same thing. You then lose a few important players to injury or whatnot, you have an unsettled line-up, you have players coming back from long-term/serious injury, etc.etc., and you quickly get passed by any of the other 12.

Reckon a dozen is an understatement for 2025 tbh

Does anybody know how the draft will work for us next year? We get White and Sinnema, what picks will they be? Oliver has to go he started our backward slide should have went last year. If we give him away for nothing so be it. I want Trac but if he set on leaving so be it same with Kossie. We are stuffed I don't think we will do another 7 year contract again.

If Jeff White has any influence over his son He should suggest Kelani stays on the gold coast instead of joining the career killers

ridiculous

more likely to encourage his son to follow his path and help build the club back up again

Almost impossible to receive any benefit from trading Petracca, Oliver and Viney,, and Gone.

They have massive multiple year contracts that we are up for.

Nobody will be crazy enough to take up the payments and handover picks or players as well.

They are basically giveaways with us paying half their salaries.

Full slash rebuilds are not the way.

We've already been rejuvenating the list so it isn't needed.

Just have to keep picking the right players to compliment the youngsters we already have.

We have been rebuilding since 2021.

We have “lost” Jackson,Hibberd,Harmes,Bedford,Brown,Gus,and Nibbler.

With Pickett I would try get a your tall defender or picks.

I am not certain but I think Yze is another father/son pick, which makes 3 I think. So we need a lot of picks.

I would go to Oliver, Pettracca and Viney and tell them if they agree to lower payment, we will trade him as son as someone wants him.

I would instantly start playing Adams, Culley, Fullerton and Mentha. I know people were saying last year that Fullerton is not good enough. But they also said Jefferson wasn't.

Once Adams is established, we delist May. Too old. If we get a defender from Pickett we drop Lever too. The only reason I keep McDonald is he can play both ends.

Once Fullerton can ruck, we can rest Gawn next year and start playing Verral

Cully and maybe Sestan will gain experience with our top 3 mids.

Before all this we need to extend Rivers' contract or maybe lose him to Tasmania.

Don't believe in rebuilds. Fullstop.

Roos rebuilt the list which eventuatualy led to a premiership

You might be thinking of the failed rebuild from 2007 to 2011

Doesn't get talked about much.but Roos turned over more than 30 players in 3 off-seasons

Try and remember Bluey and everyone else wanting to give away or suggesting that we actually pay the salary of our top end players, get a grip it is round 3. They are coming back from a multitude of issues that may take 6-8 games to iron the bugs out. Oliver is playing so much better than last year, Tracc needs some match fitness and belief, they will all play better as we get all our young guns back out on the park and they rekindle the spark. We just need to keep adding quality each year and replace those that aren’t up for the Fight. We all need to be up for the Fight and get behind the club. 2024 is Over!!!!!

That is true Macca but fortunately we don’t need to turn over 30 players now, we turned over or retired 8 last year and possibly need to retire or turn over another 8-10 this year. We need a KPD, a KPF a Ruck and another Sml Fwd plus quality depth. Then rinse and repeat each subsequent year.

We need mids and guys who can run and kick. Our key position stocks are fine as is bar a replacement for Gawn.

I’m thinking more long term Roost it far, White will provide one of those three needs if we get him. I would be putting more intensive training into Woey, Bill and Seston this year to try and salvage at least one of them.

I wouldn't be turning over 30 players ... far from it

I just made a comment about the Roos rebuild (which is rarely referenced)

But we might need a bit of a cleanout if we are serious about another assault on the flag

The bulk of the old group isn't going to win our next flag

If augers well, we could be able to challenge in 2027 but we can make finals in 2026

As for this year, it's more of a year where we practice and work on a new game plan

And at seasons end we need an influx of fast, skilled players (another 3 or 4 would be handy)

But we need to trade aggressively, DZ

This is what I think of when the term rebuild is mentioned. Knocking down the house and starting again.

Trading up for an occasional first rounder and injecting a little youth isn't what I'd call a rebuild.

I'm calling for rebuild (of sorts)

Slightly bigger than a mini rebuild

Maybe a re-modeling?

What about a renovation with a rooftop garden?

Well the list is definitely not the equivalent of a shotgun shack makin' way for units

As for rebuilding through the draft (our best bet due to JT) ... if we could somehow get hold of 5 or 6 picks in the top 30 in the 2025 draft, that part-rebuild would be well on it's way

Of course, we'd have to give up a bit but what if we were giving up players who don't want to be part of the club going forward?

That would certainly force our hand Macca but we aren’t in that situation at this point in time.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
