There's quite a few Melbourne haters in the media.

I could write down a very long list of them

Please post your "very long list" of Melbourne haters or PM me if you'd prefer.

Whats the point? It will jsut be based on assumptions due to a negative article or conversation about Melbourne.

As you say the woe is me supporter stuff is so lame. Every media writer/pundit probably has some bias towards a club but they're also paid to say/write negative things because that's what gets all the clicks/attention. The more you engage and carry on the more you're feeding into it all. Tom Morris loves it when he's being talked about especially as he's a Melbourne supporter. He's admitted he goes for the club but puts his job first and couldn't care less about writing negative things about the club. Who cares? Why would you even bother with that individual?

The Goodwin/Max thing will be a nonstory next week. I wish people would just let the media do what they're always going to do and move on.

Not a question I can answer...I have no idea...but it is very obvious who are the media's darlings and who aren't.

You live in an MFC bubble so obviously you're going to think the club are the only ones being attacked.

Meanwhilleeeee Carlton and Essendon are being battered by the media..

And for those who insist on believing that Collingwood are the media darlings.. Give it a rest! How do ppl forget the De Goey story.. The Buckley issues, the Treloar and Stephenson fire sale and shambles? They were in headlines for all the wrong reasons non-stop a few years ago.

The media circus moves in cycles along with the teams that yoyo up and down.

It is absolutely hilarious that Melbourne supporters genuinely believe we have it worse than any other side going through the [censored]! Ha!

Never said I did.

But I have a very long memory and I remember every single rude, nasty, disrespectful and snide comment they have made about the Melbourne Demons for over 20 years.

I literally saw Tom Morris on the phone outside Channel 9, before. Should have given him a whack.

I saw him & TJ last year doing a 9 news report outside the G. I wanted to say there's awkward TJ & can't keep a secret Tom

HOW DARE THEY!!!

I said I feel for you because it obviously bothers you and others on this fourm and that's my genuine concern for you guys.

I'm sure they have all said many negative/distasteful things about the club I love and support along with some great things especially late 2021. But as I mentioned in my previous post ALL media writers/pundits will have bias towards a club and its the negative articles/talk that gets the most attention so that is what they will put out as priority.

They all may well hate Melbourne, who knows. But also who cares? Thats not going to change. I stopped paying attention to anything the Cornes', McGuires, Barretts etc. said about Melbourne many years ago and I suggest for as many Dees fans to do the same.

Leigh Montagna actually really rates us. I swear he was calling out that we were doing something different and to watch out for us in round 2, 2021.

I also think Dwayne doesn't mind us.

But you missed BT and Mitch Cleary.

except that no one knew anything before it and there was no attention on it—the attention was on Xerri beating him, as well as it should have been. But Goodwin's comments meant that we put the focus on whatever was wrong with Max.  Even if he didn't mean it or it was taken out of context, that's what happened. If he had said nothing or just, "He was beaten on the day by a fantastic player," no one would have said boo.

Totally agree - there was no need to draw attention to Max's issues - the press didn't instigate this one. Nice of Goody, but not very wise IMO.

Yep  Kent by name

What's your excuse my learned friend

I don't know why Goodwin mentioned it... its was odd and unexpected.  Gawn had a crapgame, it happens, it's only noteworthy as he's normally so consistent.

The media is about clicks and attention and will jump on anything to get it.  Don't pay attention to it and life is easier.  Some will ride a dead horse to seem important.

Congratulations to our footy media, who think a Coach standing up for a player and suggesting all players have background stories or issues in their lives, is a bigger story than players involved in sexual assault, drug use, drugged /drunk unconscious emergency visits by ambulance to hospital, drunk driving, relationship cheating, organised theft on a large scale, salary cap rorting, inconsistent MRO findings, etc, etc, etc.

We all know several of the stories going round the traps, but the footy media spends unbelievable time on a pretty minor story.

OF COURSE most of the more serious stories that are ignored by the Footy media, generally involve the bigger and heavily protected AFL clubs.

It reminds me of the old saying, “ don’t bite the hand that feeds you “.

That last line applies to almost everyone in the AFL system Mr Leg.

Why you rarely hear of any club officials, coaches, players or basically anyone....ever making a stand, protesting, striking or speaking their mind.

All on the gravy train and will pretty much just go along with whatever's dished up.

It's just one big self-run franchised circus that answers to no one with some involved being easier / softer targets than others.

The AFL no doubt have their favoured clubs, presidents and players and no one dare touches them, nor sticks their head up to do so, for fear of having it chopped off.

Low IQ guy, that is a very derogatory comment, I think that you should withdraw that Kent. Do you really think that anyone with a low IQ could possibly manage the complexity of managing an AFL Football Department for nine years.

Reality is he isnt managing it at the moment is he?

No.  Clearly, everybody hates us.  They're all out to get us.  It's not just your imagination at all.  No siree!  Nothing unhealthy to see here.

I find the media doesn't bother me anymore seen i stopped reading and watching it.

There was a time in a different world when I was an avid reader, Sun, Herald, Age, Time Magazine, I listened to SEN religiously, watched AFL360, The Footy Show, Football Classified, pre and post match discussions, etc. somewhere along the line I have jettisoned each and every one of them and I am enjoying my twilight years much happier and less angry.

I still follow MFC website, check out the AFL Matchday site and read a lot of threads on Demonland, watch all our winning game replays and that’s about it.😁👍

I could write down a very long list of them, but most of them are pretty easy to spot.

I choose to ignore them as it's not worth the time or drama giving them attention.

That's why TVs and radios etc allow you to change channels or turn them off.

insert wry Mathew Lloyd grin at the prospect of answering a question directed at him about our woes 😉

Caro often goes in to bat for us (as she did last night on The Agenda Setters), Leigh Montagna has often been very positive about us, and Kane Cornes hates everyone except Port Adelaide and Sam Mitchell.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.
