Whatโ€™s with all the extra negativity OD? Weโ€™re only one round into the season.ย

Anything you are excited to see on Sunday?

Aside from a win of course

I just don't see our side being as good as I thought we might be over summer. Seems we are back to relying on players who having proven to be B talents over last few years.ย

add in May, Pickett and Windsor and things look a little different I think.

I donโ€™t really get too worked up about team selections. But it does do my head in a little bit watching a club pick a debutant as sub play them for a quarter then drop them. I just donโ€™t think itโ€™s fair on the player, I get it if there is no one else available but that wasnโ€™t the case last week.ย

Yes they are definitely problems. It's difficult seeing them back before the Geelongย  game. Well Kossie won't be for sure.ย

I very much doubt heโ€™ll be sub. We need our best kickers with games in the tank. Weโ€™re trying to get better and develop synergy with a new plan. Heโ€™s absolutely part of it

Spargo has been hugely underrated on here, although I sense the tide is changing and many are getting on the same page vis a vis his importance to our team.

Looking forward to seeing him back out there.

And happy with those changes.

Langford is gonna be a gun, let him bang down the door at VFL level and get some continuity there. He doesn't have a position at the moment.

Edited by Adam The God

Let Langford dominate at Casey for a Month and then bring him in absolutely cherry ripe. I'm a Spargo fan and I'm also a Turner fan. I'd also love Woewodin to work towards replacing Howes but I reckon he'll be the sub this week. I'd love for one or both of Woewodin and Laurie to take the next step. I fear it's unlikely but stranger things have happened.

True OD we have had a lot of injuries so far, fingers crossed we can have a decent run for the rest of the year.

Melbourne. unfortunately, have no gear change in them or any kind or secret weapon for that matter. whenever the opening siren sounds to signal the beginning of a last quarter. Kangaroos will go close here as they are not as bad as they used to be, and Melbourne are not as good as they used to be. Prediction this year for Melbourne is 13th place.

Jeez Bro, remind me not to go to the footy with you. It'll be a little close for a half and then we'll smash North. Prediction for this year is Premiers or agonisingly close.

The operative words being 'a little different'. Unfortunately, not a big enough difference, as most sides have figured out how to beat the Demons regardless of who is in the side.ย ย

fair enough. I wouldnโ€™t put too much stock in one game though

You are living in dreamland

Kids get dropped. Some of you act like playing VFL is akin to punishment.

Langford is going to be a gun but he is vying for minutes in the strongest area of our team. Even Rivers is struggling to get midfield minutes and he is beyond ready for that role.

I think that Spargo might work well with Turner. Turner makes good position, Spargo is our best deliverer after Melksham: they might form a good combination.

Sparrow played very well last week and in practice matches

It's the continuation of the last half of last season that worries me. Ended last year with multiple losses and started this year with a loss. Some new players who look to be talented but still the same result.ย

And Langford's career will be delayed 4 weeks as a result, a shocking result for us

Iโ€™m personally happy a premiership player is regaining his form of old in a new position, hitting the scoreboard and cracking in with hard tackles but each to their ownย

Langford will get games when he earns themย

I'm a Spargo fan, he cracks in and is a good kick.ย  My only gripe is bringing him back underdone.ย  ย It happened last time and frankly he should play VFL for a couple of weeks.

Everyone earns their spot, nobody gets a cheap game for being a high pick

The best result for us is having Sparrow play good footy. Langford has plenty of time and the people in the know think heโ€™s best served playing at Casey for a few weeks. Thats a fine result.

I wouldnโ€™t be smiling if Iโ€™m 30 years old, un-contracted at the end of year and canโ€™t get a game despite a quarter of the list being unavailable

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
