Just a reminder that the site will be unavailable from 8pm tonight. Perhaps earlier.

Hopefully we'll see you tomorrow.

If the upgrade breaks Demonland well it's been nice knowing you all. I don't have the energy to fix it.

Go Dees.

Well done Andy, Nasher and all other contributors.  You have our backing 100O000%!
………..  a Premiership without Demonland would be bedlam around these parts.

I'm starting to remove some widgets, blocks, and soon-to-be-defunct third-party add-ons from the website in preparation for the transition. You don’t need to worry about the technical details—just trust me on this.

When we upgraded the test site, some of these elements caused minor issues, so I want the installation and upgrade process to be as clean as possible.

I could wait until tomorrow night, but tackling it now while I have the time will save me time later and help get Demonland back up and running sooner.

I’ll also be temporarily removing ads since some of the custom placements aren’t supported in the new software, and they might cause unexpected issues. So, enjoy the ad-free experience while it lasts! 😛

See you on the other side—hopefully.

As @Demonland Andy and @Nasher embark on the Demonland site software upgrade tonight, it’s essential to wrap our arms around around them and embrace the challenge they have ahead. While they may encounter some bumps along the way, these will be valuable learnings that will contribute to our continuous enjoyment of 'Land. By trusting the process and staying united, Andy and Nasher can ensure a successful transition that enhances the experience for our community, country and the whole planet. Stay strong everyone, hug your family and friends and tell them how much you love 'em. Godspeed everyone, and I hope to see you on the other side. God bless us all.

Anyone else having preemptive withdrawal symptoms already?

I’m gonna spend the time with my son, what’s-his-name. I’m pretty sure he still lives with me.

There's a chance you might find that he's quite a nice fellow.

Seeing PJ Harvey tonight so that should help with going into Demonland abstinence. It's going to be a tough few hours for everyone.

You Gen admin?

He seemed nice last time I spent time with him, (mid-2021 when Demonland was down one evening).

I can’t remember, but I remember it wasn’t planned. It was one of those I remember what I was doing when it happened moments. It was swift but it was brutal. Seemingly we all came out unscathed.

Incidentally, at the time I was patiently trying to convince my 90yo legally blind then-neighbour that no, this isn’t his house, his house is across the road.

yes, althought you must've got there close to doors to be right up the front!

i KINDA wish i'd been sitting for the first half, with the recent album in full - very austere, very mannered, very performative; reckon it might've been better to absorb

BUT i was so glad i was standing for the back half cos ROCK N ROLL BABY \m/

First half very performative. I don’t love her new album but I loved the live performance of it. I thought the end was rocking. We got there just after 6 😂

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
