I agree, but if he was traded to the Eagles, like Hunt, I think he would be just about a regular best 22 atm.

Jeepers this is intriguing.

If there is anyway to keep Kozzi and get Jacko, add in another decent mid (maybe a free agent) then we could be back in the hunt for the next 2 years whilst we still have Max and May.

Sadly I don't know how it gets done without Kozzi being involved as there is no way that Freo would want draft picks as the team and age group they have should really seeing them push for a top 4-6 spot - especially with such a home ground advantage.

I really rate Jacko but I think goal kicking mids (high half forwards) with skill and speed to burn right now are the most important part of the game. We have issues kicking goals already and losing Kozzi I think hurts us more than gaining Jacko.

The other thing is that Freo have a couple players similar to Kozz so other than him being a gun, is he really a need for them?

Hoping we can do everything we can to get him in for draft and future draft picks - like they did to us. Again - doubt they'd accept with him being contracted.

Yeh, just found it interesting that in this thread we're asking for a sweeter in the deal but Freo fans are wanting us to chuck in a first rounder as well.

If Jackson was an extremely strong contested mark and capable of kicking 1.5 a game as a resting forward, this would be super exciting. It's great that Jackson may want to return (although this is Seven West Media, so enormous grain of salt), and very handy that we once again have an obvious Gawn replacement, but I'm not thinking net positive at the moment.

When LJ left us in 2022 we got two firsts and a second. He's three years older now and not quite as advanced as hoped, so that might shave some value off. But he's still worth 2 firsts IMO.

Kosi is in the same boat. Brad Green has stated three firsts or busts. More likely two will get it done.

So a straight swap for Kosi OR if by some miracle Kosi stays, then two firsts is what it will take. I've already stated it on this thread but I'm 1 million percent on board with this.

Maybe I'm completely blinded by nuffie glasses, but I'd expect if Pickett for Jackson was the start, we'd also want quite a buit more in addition.

While I agree it would be difficult, I would point to the Houston trade as an example of where a club has had to take unders because the market for that player was small

Houston ruling out us and North, and Carlton focusing on the draft, essentially meant that only Collingwood was in a position to trade for him

So while they did end up trading a future first and a couple of players (although in a four team deal), they ultimately were able to land Houston for far less than what he was worth, and Port had to choose between holding him to his contract or taking what they could get and run

So while I think ultimately Kozzy for Jackson would be the likely deal, there is definitely a scenario where Kozzy stays, we get creative with future picks and player movements, and Freo ultimately has to decide whether they want to force a player to be unhappy with them or play ball

Difference is Houston is older than LJ and was not contracted for years on a big deal.

But like I said, LJ's big deal could actually be leverage for us. If we're pay his wage at the rate Freo locked in, then IMV they'd be owed less in terms of trade.

That is probably correct, as many in the AFL are calling Kozzie a superstar, which is not the same description for Jacko.

Long term however I see Jacko as a bigger need for us, as his type is much harder to find and I see him having a longer AFL career than Kozzie.
