Outdated and the second is Not even  our real colours. Navy blue more than some royal style is our colours.

And haven’t we won the 2021 flag with this newer emblem.

Let's worry about what happens on the field and matters like this can be addressed when we are 17 flags atop the premiership race.

Changing emblems like flags always indicates a lack  of self confidence IMO as the real issue is changing our style out on the ground and winning.

That makes a greater Football Club with continuity and confidence not tinkering at the edges.

This has got nothing to do with onfield matters.
A Club Emblem/Logo is all about getting young kids on board

We have a large void to fill in that respect, which all started back in the mid 60’s when Television started to show Saturday Replays in Prime Time. Sadly this coincided with our fall down the ladder, which meant The MFC were very rarely on and when we were on, it was usually a heavy loss. The result being Kids followed other teams

It wasn’t cool to be a Melbourne Supporter…

The problem still exists, we have to grow our Membership and the lifeblood of that is Young Kids

So an Emblem that they want to identify with and wear, is very important.

I don’t mind our current logo, it’s ok, but i do think it is a little bland

I think a Demon with a Trident is needed with Flames too….!!

I would love to see a Japanese demon style. Like the one I've just changed my profile picture to.

no it's not

a club emblem / logo is about standard and consistent branding to be instantly recognisable and associated with the product as it is

simple and direct works, and not changing it willynilly all the time too

the 'demon spirit' stuff has enough frills around it to supposedly be appealing but personally i think the notion of our emblem having any effect whatsoever on our appeal to younger generations is a complete misnomer

Well that just means we disagree

we need to engage the younger generations

An Emblem can do that, as long as the product on the field is winning

The ‘64 Weg should be hung in the Louvre. It’s a work of absolute genius!

I definitely think for new fans, whether they are young kids growing up with footy or adults new to the game for whatever reason; logos, colours, jumpers are all pretty influential.

If anyone has ever watched a “New to AFL” YouTube video, it’s pretty much the first criteria potential support is based on.

It would make sense to have a flag somewhere in our emblem. A high flying one. Since that's what our song says.

♥️

This one on merchandise, especially on caps and polo shirts, looks the best. People who don’t even follow the MBL wear the “NY” caps and shirts (NY Yankees) because it’s seen as a brand. We should be attempting to create the same.

Just saying, that yes the CS logo was a mess, but it did one thing I loved - claiming the Eureka southern cross, which I thought was a brilliant idea as no other club has and I think the cross is an awesome logo and would quite happily claim it for the football club and get it away from the CFMEU, right wing crazies, and anyone else who didn’t understand that it was about a fair go, justice and equality. Anyway soap box broken now, and yes overall it was too messy bar that one good idea.

Hard to believe a guy with the username "BringBackTheDemon" wants the Demon back I know, but:

The current logo is a blatant rip off of the Brooklyn Nets and New York Yankees.

Cameron Schwab's monstrosity was a blatant rip off of Liverpool.

The Flamehead logo is original and epic. Bring it back full time.

I will say the current logo is better than "Demon Spirit" though, so unbelievably cringe. You've stuck with this for years now (why??) yet "Give em Hell" only lasted 1 season and that brought us a premiership and is far better for marketing.

‘Blatant rip off’

What can one do with a logo that some club somewhere hasn’t already done?

Any logo will be a ‘blatant rip off of something else’ so that shouldn’t be a determining factor at all.

My point was the late 90s-2000s logo was original which made it awesome.

Except we pre-date the Yankees and Mets and so does that specific logo (overlapped MFC initials).

did the baggers have that overlapping letters logo before we did?

Agreed. That looks so much better on the hats than the full emblem.

A quick google search and I dont think we pre date the Yankees using the overlapping initials at all, the Yankees first used it in 1909. Happy to be corrected.

Carlton also introduced the “CFC” initials logo to their jumper in 1909 (was used prior to this, just not on their jumper). I found evidence of us using the MFC initials in 1897. But I do acknowledge that the style of logo is synonymous with the New York teams mentioned. I just think it looks good on our merchandise, and branding is super important.

Can you link me to where you found us using it in 1897 please? I struggled to find any early emblems for us, interested to see the old ones.

@Supermercado may be able to shed some light on this!

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
