The great moralisers of Demonland are out in force I see.

As Punter To Punter (R.I.P.) often told us, "We're not encouraging you to gamble.  We're encouraging you Tibet".

I'm betting (see what I did there) you've posted that Hamish clip in the wrong thread, @Little Goffy!

Maybe it is in the wrong location, but if people don't like it they can just not look at it.

Haha what do you mean you can’t avoid it?! Just don’t click on it 🤣

You didn't read what I said.

I have always done this, I have no idea what the topic is until it opens.

So I can't avoid it.

Gambling is not a football topic.

Alas, they're all in the Louvre.

By the header I just assumed in the interests of transparency the AFL had changed their name to AFL Betting.

I would like to see regulations involving 1 betting ad per commercial break during games. Cranking up the price for advertising which those companies can have a bidding war over

Crazy odds on GWS today

Got $2.90 on them with Hogan, Stringer and Briggs back in

Not sure they will hold on but shows how much everyone thinks the Hawks are unbeatable

...but, I guess that's just me.

Betting against Melbourne is the only way i can cope with watching us play. I'm basically paying for a win and if they lose, which is often they pay me for the displeasure.

The Lisa Mona?

I reckon North will get the line in today’s game, +39.5. They’ve play well v Dogs and then they tore us up.

In the voice of Dave O’Neil: gamble responsibility.

I love to have a bet with friends, my family has owned and trained horses and I only mention this to say I’m not a wowser.

But seriously sports betting on phones has to stop, it cannot be that easy to get high. It’s like your phone is dispensing fentanyl.

Felt strong enough to post about it, John Oliver can be a preachy git, but he’s not wrong here, is worth a watch, and the harm is real, let’s push to limit the damage.

Oh and to be clear I don’t mind people talking about their bets, in the same way I favour legalization, but with limits and controls.

There are a lot of things on phones which needs to end, including betting and gaming.

If only someone could end Tik Tok as well.

Sportsbet

Langford RS / $7

Melb top 8 / $15

Multi the above into a power play for $121

Staked $2 on each

I got on us at the start of CY2021 to win it all at $26 and tracc Norm Smith. That was juicy.

I would like to see an end to a great many things

The east coast gas cartel

Capital gains tax discount - back to indexation please

Outsized population growth

Crazy gambling ad volumes

Idiotic driving on roads especially around cyclists

Excess taxation on labour instead of economic rents

More coal and gas mines

Collingwood winning any more grand finals, ever

The list goes on

But not gambling itself

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
