Dazz  speaking about Mc Adam..his magic moments are SILK.. BUT too few and far between, and given his um seemingly perrenial injury moments tend to push the ledger to the negative!

I think this is fair. Nobody’s doubting the talent he has, but if he can’t get his body right he’s not much use to us.

And this “oh it’s only a minor hammy” stuff isn’t actually insignificant. It’s these sort of incidents over and over and over again which means he can’t build up any base fitness levels or learn patterns and jell with his fellow forwards.

No he’s not doing ACL’s or breaking legs but he’s not getting any sort of consistency in his training to give him the platform he needs to perform. And approaching 30 it’s not going to improve.

I’m desperate to see Jeffo succeed as I feel a player of his type would make us so much better.

I watch him closely whenever I’m at training. Physically he’s a tick, definitely has an AFL ready body now.

But I’m afraid skill and intensity wise he’s still a long way off. Just my opinion. Sorry @picket fence!

He has an exoskeleton??

Good on C Oliver for being so cautious.

And scars.

It was a joke. I fully support efforts to limit UV exposure. My dad had plenty of benign (or slightly worrying) moles removed and just about scarring on his arms from it. These days I'll even put sunscreen on in October or so, when the meteorologists give UV warnings or plan not to be stuck in the sun in the middle of the day. I don't anyone to die early.

Just curious with all the talk of father sons, is kynan in full training? Hoping so and he’s just not standing out

Yes, Brown is in full training.

Definitely not standing out with any errors. Getting some involvement, moves well to space using lateral steps, good hands, good disposals. I wonder between Lindsay and himself, who are similar players, which one is ahead in Goody's thoughts.

He was playing out of the half-back area today in the sims.

If he’s tweaked his hamstring it may just show his body is no longer able.

Or his body is not use to the volume of work he has put in and he has a fatigued related hammy.

Over training in a short space of time after the Christmas break it's a friggen trap straight after their designated break.

I had some hopes pre Xmas of a bounce back this year. It's now starting to feel otherwise.

A long injury list including some very important players, others again in the news for the same / wrong reasons, and the same doubts on some important young players and potentially important older players (McAdam)

Oliver getting near his best makes us better if that happens, but not enough to offset interrupted pre seasons to the likes of Trac, Mcvee, Gawn, Chandler, Lever, not to mention Kozzie's mind being elsewhere and the loss of ANB.

It's great if Langford, Laurie and Turner are taking steps - but if these are the bright spots of our year we'll be in trouble. Ditto on the likes of Sharp.

6 weeks till round 1, why the negative outlook?

I'd rather this build up than the last couple of years with all the negativity.

Stronger squad than the last 2 years.

Yeah what’s even the point? Might as well just throw in the towel now and start getting ready for 2026 I suppose.

The season is still 6 weeks away.. Tracs fitness isn’t affected by a rib injury. Gawn is already playing intra club matches. Mcvee and chandler barely make our best 22. Kozi’s mind is somewhere else?? Did you see him play the intra club game? The kid is on fire! Only concern is lever. So 1 player from a list of 30.

Sorry, but I really don’t understand your assessment… McVee was already proving himself last season against some of the best forwards in the competition, and with ANB no longer there across half forward with his pressure acts and tackling, Chandler becomes a more important part of the team.

How does McVee barely make the best 22?

He's played every single game since round 1 of 2023 which shows he's CLEARLY in the best 22 and has been since debut.

Mc Adams with a "Slight" hamstring strain, said this before.... Giant Bust IMO Body not up to it!

Said it last year that there were folks within the club that had some doubts about his body’s ability to withstand the stresses of AFL footy.

Whilst all injuries are disappointing I think we’ve had a great preseason. Bar Tholstrup and Kentfield we look to be set to have a full list to choose from in the coming weeks. I’d actually like to see Kentfield put on the LTI and see George bought in. I think he’s got more upside. I’m just not seeing your long list of injuries.

I agree Kev, and physically he is looking much stronger - just a matter of where he fits in, particularly with Windsor likely to play off half-back, and Bowser and Salem fit, and so many wingers - perhaps the old ANB role for him as he has many similar attributes to Nibbler.

I think the ANB role is perfect for KB. He's a good runner as shown in time trial results, he's got good pace and is probably quicker and also better skilled than ANB. It will just take him time to get familiar with the role I'd say, as ANB definitely made it his own and was so reliable at it.

I thought it was Ryder Brown too. Had myself convinced he had a similar gait to Pup and the same body-type: long body, short legs, low centre of gravity. So I asked around and it seemed no one was sure who he was. Then Richo told a couple of us he was a f/s and told us his name. After training I was introduced to him as a different first name but another Demonlander has worked out he is the f/s about whom Richo told us only Richo got his first name wrong. So yeah, he’s the son of a former player but for some reason Richo stressed we can’t post it anywhere.

This is very strange.... wonder why we can't talk about a F/S player given they are available to us if we want?

Is it just me, or does Aidan Johnson look like he's already put on a heap of size since joining the club?

Perhaps being a full time footballer contributes to this, more time to work on physical fitness when not working a full time job.

True... but still wouldn't need to be a secret I wouldn't have thought

I've done a little research and I think we have 7 players who have played over 100 with us and another club.

Jeff Farmer

Jeremy Howe

Bernie Vince

James Frawley

Steven May

Jake Melksham

There is one I'm unsure of who played 109 games for Melbourne and then 102 for Carlton.... fun little quiz for your Thursday

Perhaps the kid is undecided about pursuing footy and doesn't want any attention while he figures it out. Or, the club just wanted a look at him with no pressure attached.

I think you’re right about that on both counts. It could also be that Richo is the biggest pizz-taker in the world. After all, he did once tell me to go on Demonland and tell everyone that Vines was crook in the stomach because he’d eaten a prawn despite knowing its poop-shute hadn’t been removed, which wasn’t true. I can’t trust a word he says 😅

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
