Spargz is training with the main group  🥳

Terrific news. We may be on track for a full group - no rehab - when preseason resumes in January?

I expect Spargo will start the year in the VFL but he is an important depth player and has proven that he can contribute in finals and big regular season games.

McAdam needs to be doing every session I would have thought if he is going to be best 22 in R1

Doesn’t mean he’s blowing off training altogether. As has been mentioned many times on here, training methods have changed. There’s much individual training being done.

edit: Shane is ill with the stomach bug that’s affected a few of the boys this past week.

If we can into February with nothing more than some awareness or strains, that is huge. It means everyone will have a great fitness base that if they do get an injury just before the season starts or during the season, they still have that base to build back from. Much better than trying to build that base during the season because of injury during pre-season.

Disco came off and sat on the ground with left sock and shoe off. Two trainers were looking closely at his ankle. Now he’s jogging around the boundary. He said it’s fine and it’s nothing to be concerned about and the medics told him it’s not serious.

Or not being done in this case!!!

It’s ironic that the bloke that has had the most fitness issues ( other than Clarry) over the last 2 pre seasons is not here on a 42 deg day.

You can go on the bike or run laps around the oval.

Perhaps he is only allergic to sun screen after all!!

Please don’t  try a defend him unless you have legit  inside info GW.

At least the word is that he is the fittest we have seen him at Melb ( whatever that means) and  may join the main training group after Xmas.

My take is if you can’t train you can’t play (in season though).

I think GW said he is absent because of a stomach bug several others have had recently - if true and I have no reason to suspect otherwise that’s a legitimate reason to be absent

He has a stomach bug, the same stomach bug that saw Vines come off early in a session last week and as Goody said, you know it must be bad if Vines willingly went off. It’s also the same stomach bug that had Fritta feeling like death last Friday. So, why would anyone expect him to train today?

Was actually bearable. The sun went behind cloud cover and stayed there and there was a pleasant and at times strong breeze.

The players weren’t fazed at all by the heat. It was a long session but they came off in the same condition as they always do. Again, Zooper Doopers fix everything.

Even before the session started they weren’t bothered by the prospect of oppressive heat. Especially Charles SpargiPants who said weather is weather, it’s all the same. Bloke’s so laid back he’s a heartbeat away from a coma. Almost as laid back as Ed, and that’s saying something 😅

Not sure if it’s been mentioned already but Melks came off with what might be a hammy. I didn’t see it since I was busy posting on here but other spectators told me he looked quite upset.

Are there any more sessions for the rest of the week?

This Weds at Gosch’s at 10am is the final one for the year. It’s not listed on the website which usually means it’s technically not an open session. Of Course anyone can turn up to a public ground but the players aren’t expected to indulge fans with selfies and autographs. Some of them still do it though.

Website only has up to todays sessions but @Ghostwriter mentioned last week that the last session is on Wednesday.

@Ghostwriter - do you have any intel on what date they resume training after Christmas/New Year?

They finish up this Wednesday at Gosch’s. They resume at Gosch’s on the 9th of January. At this stage it’s not known if/when Casey will be ready but they’re thinking it will be sometime in mid to late January.

Legit info as told by Chocco, Peter (head physio), Nathan Basset, Ricky M, Roy George (who wore Shane’s jumper today) and Koz.

Shane physically could not train in any capacity nor could he even attend the team meeting beforehand such is the severity of this particular stomach bug. He’s not the only player who’s succumbed to it to the point of missing a session.

If they were telling me BS they must’ve got together before training to get their story straight and quite frankly I can’t imagine they’d bother. 😂

The humidity at Gosch’s at times can be unbearable, so a humidity under 50% could’ve been a welcome reprieve for the players.

Maybe it is the same one that 😮Scott says the Cats had in our PF slaughter?

if that is the case he should stay well away from the club and from teammates.  Maybe he could drop over and share water bottles at Lexus or Punt Road though.

Yes that’s fine but she hasn’t in this forum mentioned it to my knowledge.

sadly Shane catching a bug is still ironic given his history of health!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
