Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?

Wow.
I was initially hoping for Jagga at pick 5, but after watching this highlights package I think Draper has leapfrogged him.

The only thing with Draper is that I just can’t see Adelaide not taking him if he’s still there. He is definitely a top talent and it wouldn’t even surprise me if Richmond take him at pick 2 after this rumoured pick swap with North.

83 - Slim

Would be a great addition, immediately enhances club culture. Get him in.

I hear he’s a bit of a fat boy.

5. Hope Draper slides to us but would take Smith - Looking for Round 1 impact and point of difference in our mix.

9. I am leaning towards Smillie, think if he gets to work in an AFL system he’s a real weapon with his size and kicking - I am ok with him ending up a 195cm HBF with a long and accurate kick if that’s how it shakes out

Kinda hoping for the flying Viking at 5

The joint would go into meltdown about not taking a mid at 5. But he reminds me of a young N riewoldt, D Schwarz, P Knights. Blonde haired aerialists. There's just something good about them

Never fear HT,  a pre-season with Steve Moneghetti will get those skin fold numbers right down.

Just rewatched a Smith and Langford highlight reel, Langford every day of the week. For some reason I watch Smith and can’t help but think he’s a newer model of Caleb Daniel.

It is quite a compelling viewing

Pick 5: Smith or Langford

pick 9: Smillie or Allen

If we pick Langford then Allen for pick 9

If we pick Smith then Smillie for pick 9

based on these highlights it's hard to see him not being afl-ready

it's also hard to see him lasting until our first pick

5. LALOR/DRAPER/LANGFORD/SMITH

9. If one of the above is still available take him if not SMILIE/TRAVAGLIA/ALLAN/SHANAHAN

83. DENNIS

Exactly what I see BA. I try to tell myself that at least Smith will be a more damaging, upgraded version, but I just can't unsee the same 'posession first' mentality. I'm sure he still would be a good pick up, but there maybe more genuine match winners available at pick 5.

I see very minimal hurt factor with Jagga. He sure gets a lot of it, but there isn’t much wow factor with his disposals.

His ability to keep finding the ball is amazing, however. But give me quality over quantity.

Langford looks like a bloke ready to dominate AFL footy

Scully used to rack up possessions at junior level too based on his running.

Smith looks better but not sure how much. If you don’t have the frame and height you need to be excellent at everything else in the midfield

I was making that comparison too Dub

I find funny everyone is a draft expert this time of year and 95% of people just repeat what they read or hear

Agreed Deemac, it's almost like 95% of people just repeat what they read or hear

Agree Adonski, it’s almost like only 5% of people don’t repeat what they read or hear

I don’t think too many on here consider themselves experts. We’re just mug punters who have watched a handful of u tube clips and have an opinion, an addiction to the game and the MFC. A few would have watched some games live but the majority don’t have the time.

Watching these clips again make me want Langford and Hynes. The latter is on the end of a lot of Langford's bullets.

If Langford had pace he'd IMO be so far ahead of any of the others as a number pick 1.

I think his lack of pace is overstated though. He's got that burst of acceleration when he hits the contest. He's got great hands, a beautiful kick, a great overhead mark and he kicks goals. He's very likely to be an A+ AFL player IMO.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
