Coming to Melbourne after seven years as a leading goal kicker at North Melbourne, Brown was well known for his unique, extremely long run up on set shots for goal. After some early setbacks injury wise settled into the full forward position in time to play a big role in the 2021 premiership win with three goals. Unfortunately, the remainder of his time at the club was hampered by injury including the need to undergo knee surgery. He retired from playing football at the end of the season after 45 games and 73 goals but remains at the club in a coaching role with the AFLW team.

A great footballer, so glad that he came to us when he did, will always be remembered as a Premiership Hero of MFC. Hope that he stays with our AFLW team.

That goal against Port Adelaide was an absolute cracker
.

So proud that this guy spent time at our club.

You could tell that his mind and desire was as sharp as ever but the body just wouldn't allow him to do what a needed to. This was really evident in the seasons following the flag where he would have ripping pre seasons and first few games but then tail off once the wear and tear kicked in. Wasn't through a lack of trying.

Never forget 21.

'21 MFC Premiership player

'22 Casey Premiership player (the only player to do both)

'22 AFLW Premiership assistant coach.

All time fantastic human being.

What an amazing contribution (still going) to our club. Proving good guys don't always finish last.

What a privilege to call him a Dee. 🏆🏆🏆

He had a sneaky really good game that night.

A pity for him (and us) that he couldn't help out our forward line this year.

Needed a good corner man to throw in the towel.

Hoping he doesn’t suffer in retirement with the broken body.

His great finals series in 2021 made it all worth it despite his numerous injury setbacks.

@DemonDave has put up the premiership team in the "Casey Demons - offseason 2024/5" thread.

Mitch Brown played in that side, Ben Brown didn't.

Oh, my bad. Still love him, though.

if only he'd been able to play a role late in 2023 and 2024 - he made the world of difference to our side

i don't have any statistical data to back it up, but i 'felt' like we were a 3 goal a game better player when he was able to get through four quarters on a regular basis

so thankful for what he has brought to our club, and was a huge part of the success in 2021

Prime Benny Brown at North Melbourne was one of my favourite players to watch. The best leading forward in the competition and just about unstoppable at his best with decent delivery and those long arms of his.

Will be remembered for a long time I think, and not too many players get that return at the end of their career.

Premiership player as well if you don't mind.

The top line says it all for a long suffering Demon supporter!

The rest is a bonus and exemplifies an obviously great person!

Thank you BBB.
Thanks for the 2nd quarter ice cold set shot goal against the run of play, and the mark and goal in the 3rd of the 21 GF. Thanks for the 60 metre bomb in the 3rd that Trac crumbed and goaled.
Your goal at the start of the last quarter was the greatest feeling I've had as a dees supporter. I knew we were going to be premiers.

Thanks Ben for your great contribution to our premiership 🏆.  You pushed through with a battered body, which then totally failed you the past 2 years.  Enjoy your well earned retirement.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
