Good to see the likes of Jacob Van Rooyen, Jake Bowey, Bailey Laurie and Blake Howes in the USA doing some intensive training over there in the off season.

I see Jake Lever being the leader that he is has joined the group which is a exactly what you want from your leaders showing the way.

Would be good to seeing JVR, Bowey and Howes take the next step next year with Laurie at least finally showing his worth.

He’s probably going to do his altitude training in the You Yangs

Well I guess that's higher than the MCG

😄

But, geographically and to the ear, that still shouts 'yeah, nah, undecided'.

Mount Duneed on the other hand...

Dusty Martin achieved great results by doing his off-season training with Dane Swan in the US. 😁

  • Whispering_Jack changed the title to Young players training in the USA

It's the way to go these days. Players get access to facilities you could only dream of here.

Way better than Caulfield unless you are a horse!

Well smart a..e it is a bit further than Casey or Goschs and costs a bit more also.

PS Have you ever seen the setup inside at Casey Fields?

Or just marvelled at the extraordinary grass surface on the oval?

Never forget that’s where our AFL VFL and AFLW premiership heroes trained for their flags. Used as the main ground.

I think it was a joke 58er! Yes it has good facilities distance is the only problem.

And yet the players hate travelling out there.

The sooner we get Caufield up and going through quicker we can ditch Casey fields for good.

Don't hold your breath dd. It is not even approved yet and a new set of board members have moved in. They are not as happy with having a football team there as previous members. Next decade at the earliest.

Similarly, Brisbane won a premiership on the back of a pre-season at Vegas.

*Dips toes hesitantly into mire...*

Couple of things in your posts, @dazzledavey36 and @old dee:

Where do we find the players' views on travelling to Casey? (I'm not on any social media except here. And that's more than enough 😉)

Where, achievable earlier, do the new set of board members want the football team to be?

(And maybe I should have put this on another thread. Sorry to divert a positive story.)

Thanks OD yes I understand but it is sarcasm and some of it does not amuse me when it reflects IMO unfairly or negatively on the Club.

Good on those boys and Jake also. Not doing his claims for next Captain any harm at all.

How do we know the two new recent members views on all things Melbourne?

I imagine like most of us that the proposed new Caulfield base can be implemented as along with the stage/s outlined recently by the CEO that are to be approved.

That’s  because they haven’t had to declare anything when you are co-opted to the Board.

Just like Councilors Pollies at times and Cttee/Board members  being co-opted should not happen as an automatic decision without a “bye election”.

Wow. If not caulfield than where? Surely these new board members realise a reasonable solution is better than no solution...

I read it as Old Dee referring to the new members of the Caufield/racing board not the MFC.

Got it. Makes sense.

Good question I have no idea.

Who knows Gouga. I just got the feeling it is not guaranteed from recent events of changes at the racing club.

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions.
