As mentioned in another thread, he's going to be a great get for whoever gets him.

Has worn a few different hats in the governance and footy department side of things.

If its a choice between Collingwood  or us and he wants to get back into club land, do people really think he would choose us??????????

If he enjoys a challenge he will! 🤣

I for one would think it would a fantastic coup if the Melbourne Football Club could obtain the services of Jimmy Bartel.

Well to be fair Collingwood aren't squeaky clean at the moment.

The racial thing has been swept under the carpet, we are helping keep that out of the papers. No that the media would report it anyway, its Collingwood, nothing to see here.

Get Him

We'd be saved, born again, etc, etc!

But Jimmy'd be an OK second best.

I’d be a pretty strong advocate for him, have heard some mixed things about him as a person but he’s obviously been involved at a high level in multiple clubs.

Think a role at Melbourne would suit him better than Collingwood, we are probably a little more in need

What an odd post.

You'd be a strong advocate for him, but have heard mixed things?

What is going on today? Demonland is bizarro world.

Oh FFS... Bartel?

This effing club...

Interesting.

I’m a big fan. Very clean composed and considerate from what I’ve seen of him post footy. Would be a good appointment and an upgrade in a variety of roles. If he’s keen on contributing to the club, sign him on.

Lacking some punctuation, sorry God!

I’ve heard mixed things about him as a person, but purely from a football sense, I would strongly advocate for him.

Don't we want good people given the head of footy role is very much a people role too?

I think I may be the only person who thinks his football insights are often very low cognition.

Happy to be driven wrong but this is up there with Rory Sloane.

Sure we do, although at the moment, I think Jimmy would offer a strong and different point of view to the leadership clique we currently have.

Any chance that the [censored] in charge of our player recruiting can get us a player or two.  Actually, I'll rephrase 'can get us a player or two who are very good"

Claz met with Geelong again today I'm told.

I thought today was the date of the original meeting?

Jimmy Bartel would add strong culture and leadership.  Definitely like to see us pursue him.

Dees looking for quality people to bring in.
Also heard we are speaking to Rory Sloane.  Genuine guy.  Genuine leader.

Agree whole heartedly.

Jimmy is one of my all-time favourite players and football people. Would be thrilled to have him at the dees in any capacity.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
