You are joking? Offer nothing get nothing! We have been mannifestly poor so far, and from where I sit to think we will improve with this list is foolhardy thinking!

How would you know what we have offered?

Ben Brown’s on Trade Radio, talking about our year and the club generally:

Why do some people sound so good and sensible when they speak. That’s BBB fo you.

Others can say the same thing and why do we not believe them?

Not saying all will happen easily but we are not 14 th on the ladder for talent. Many things in 2025 could occur with just tweaks and luck plus no injuries to key personnel.

Any if the teams from third to 15 th could win across next year. However it will be harder next year as Lions will improve now they know how to and BELIEVE.

We rightfully had a crack at Peatling and missed.

Perryman is going to be paid $900k at the Pies.

Cummings a 6 year deal at the Crows.

Battle enough contract to trigger the highest draft compensation.

Houston if we were still in it would be costing us pick 5

Baker and Bolton we are in the wrong state to entice.

Noble and Rioli first round picks.

Haynes, Darling, Parker passed well passed their best and would require good $$ multi year retirement deals.

Some times the best list management is the one that does little.

Good post

Running over the same old ground, what have we found?

Damn, it would be a hard gig on trade radio so far this trade period.

Not sure what else to expect though. Not a lot of prospects in the market this year for trade, either buying or selling.

A high quality draft crop and mid level talent on the trade table. All the teams want to get into the draft as early as possible and as often as possible. In my book that leads to high price tags on any that are traded.

For the MFC I do not see us doing much in the trade week. ANB to Adelaide, Campbell in and maybe a couple of steak knives shuffles but I expect us to retain and use pick 5 and try to get into a position for a late first round selection.

As to the Oliver situation I think it is as much a result of the lack of trades so far as anything else. I think he will line up for us next season along with Petracca.

With not a lot else to talk about the AFL Media is driving this for all it is worth. Give me a break.... I read a headline that said Oliver has a dream of playing for Geelong.

If you've got some Clonakilla SV I'm prepared to reconsider, Ravensworth even.

No trades for two days but there must be something stirring out there in the Milky Way

Somewhere out there are the following stories-

Essendon could be asked to pay some of Jake Stringer's salary if he moves to GWS.

Luke Ball has urged Geelong not to put Bailey Smith through the same national draft stress he endured in 2009 and get a deal done with Western Bulldogs.

The AFL gave the green light to Port Adelaide trading its future first-round pick, which is likely to be used in the Jack Lukosius deal.

Noah Balta signed a massive contract extension at Richmond in a big show of commitment as other stars want out of Punt Road.

So yesterday was the day of pick swaps and thankfully, we are on a two day break for the weekend while we digest the excitement of clubs trading draft selections. Here they are in a nutshell:-

Trade (Carlton / Brisbane)

Carton receive pick 73 and a future second round pick while picks 34 and 66 head to Brisbane.

Trade (Richmond / Brisbane)

Tigers receive the Lions’ pick 20 in return for a suite of selections: Picks 32, 42, 43 and 45.

Trade (Hawthorn / Carlton)

Carlton grab pick 14 from Hawthorn in return for their future first and second round picks.

The AFL trade period (and by extension, AFL Trade Radio) would be nothing without Melbourne if yesterday was anything to go by.

Two interconnected trades occurred on the day:-

• Pick swap between Adelaide & Melbourne

Adelaide receives future 3rd-round pick.

Melbourne receives Pick 46.

• Pick swap between Melbourne & Essendon

Melbourne receives Pick 9 and future 3rd-round pick.

Essendon receives Picks 28, 40, 46, 54 & 65 and future 1st-round pick.

IMG_6609.thumb.jpeg.0678120c064b3b5f167d32d7f01fdfa3.jpegI think the first was a residual part of the ANB deal as it wouldn’t really make sense otherwise.

There was lots of discussion on other matters to fill the hours including about the forthcoming announcement of the results of Melbourne’s review so it really was our day.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
