I have never respected Hinkley.

Aw, that's it then... I'm totally off his bandwagon if you don't like him!

Ginnivan is an arrogant [censored] who got what was coming. Verbally not physically. The footy world needs to toughen up and no be so outraged.

Hinkley had a crack well before Sicily fired back. While he should've kept his emotions in check, so too should've Siss not gone on and on and on with it, even while he was chairing off his good mate. To my mind that's typical Hawthorn

Regardless of their ages, if you give krap, you have to be prepared to take it. They are all adults.

None of Hinkley, Sicily or Ginnavan covered themselves in glory this week

But good on Hinkley for apologising in his presser. That should be the end of it. Watch the Hawks now blow it up in the aftermath of the loss

Such a shame.  The Hawks were having such a Goodyear, too.

Hit a fork on the road to premiership glory.

I personally love people saying or showing what they actually think rather than the usual afl one week at a time nonsense

The hawks guts provoke, so they will cop it when they lose

fair right?

You could apply the same logic to a social media post.

Good on James Sicily. He may not have have much to do with Hokball but good to see him stand up for his younger players.

True leadership.

Sicily should be pulling his younger players into line for making twats of themselves. Then he wouldn't have to stand up for them.

Excellent.

It's never too late to see the light.

Ginnivan is an annoying and naive kid who will take an age to ‘grow up’. Does it matter that he needs to reap what he sows? Honestly I don’t care one way or the other. He’s polarising that’s for sure.

What I don’t like is the smug look from Hinkley and whatever his words were to the Hawks playing group. He was humiliated only 8 days ago and I hope that’s what Sicily said to him. I’d be embarrassed if our coach did the same thing, thankfully ours has more sense at least than Ken.

Hang on, so everyone has spent the past 3 months frothing over Hawthorn and then win one final against an ordinary Bulldogs and get bounced out in a semi against Port Adelaide...

Brilliant.

Now we just need Geelong out next week and I'll be happy.

Hinkley regretted and apologised.

Will Sicily regret going on and on with it while chairing his mate off?

Will Ginnivan regret for smack talking Port?

Who knows, probably all 3 will get together 10 years down the track and have a good laugh about it.

All I see is 3 guys who can give it out, but can’t take it themselves. Sam Mitchell is another I’d put in that category too.

My respect goes out to those who cop it, yet let their actions do their only talking.

Kenny might have been 2 post shots away from being moved on.
Personally, I couldn’t care less about the banter before, during and after the game.
Live and die blah blah etc etc
Some people, like Sam, are a bit sensitive to it but showing that will only attract more.
I wouldn’t advocate it in tennis. But this should still be a bit more combative than that.

Why? It's exactly what has gotten them there. Not to mention they were literally a kick away from upsetting this underachieving, milquetoast piece of garbage club in front of their 'fans'. Not like they just lost by 80+ on their own home deck..

Exactly. Believe me, I don't like Ginnivan and the 'Americanisation' of our sport, on field and off. Nor am I a Hawthorn lover. Knowing one of these sides would lose was the only thing I was looking forward to, other than the excitement all finals bring.

The Hinkley apology at his presser has cooled my anger a little but, as Maya Angelou said "When someone shows you who they are, believe them"

Hinkley has form. He started the all player hit Max Gawn at every off ball moment, that has been adopted league wide, and is mostly not penalised.

Ironically, he played as an 'outside' player himself, but coaches players to snipe, antogonise and intimidate. He has always been an ungracious victor.

His club now has to defend his petulant and immature actions instead of celebrating a tight contest and an upcoming Prelim. I am certain he hasn't helped his long term coaching aspirations, despite the victory.

Initially, I wondered what Sicily was on about and critical of his actions. Once I saw Kenny the K was the instigator, it all became clear. I then flipped and respected James for backing his team-mate and club, especially as they were coming together to honour a Hawthorn legend.

I believe the Swans will have a lot more barracking for them next week than they would have otherwise.

I certainly will.

Mate can you imagine if Goodwin did that?

The damage costs to the server here after the meltdown would be in telephone numbers.

Probably not the best public display by a coach in Ken Hinkley. He may get a fine.

Having said that, Jack Ginnivan gave the ammunition with his social media post. That was foolish of him.

What disappoints me more is that Simon Goodwin didn't at least attempt to use what happened to Angus Brayshaw by that vile thug Brayden Maynard when we next played Collingwood this year in the King's Birthday Game.

We were as soft as butter and players were shaking Maynard's hand?! It was humiliating and will remain an embarrassment until vengeance is served back cold against Collingwood and Maynard. Angus Brayshaw will hopefully get justice one day whether it is on the field or in the court room we shall wait and see.

Thin skinned attention-seeking twerps at Hawthorn getting a public dose of disrespect and their captain becoming completely fussed over it.

Luv t' see it.

Port still managing to appear psychologically brittle despite holding on to win a final by less than a goal.

Magic.

All in all that was a great night of footy.

Could someone please kindly forward me the Ginnivan 'social media post" that started this Port/Hawks friction.  Can't find it anywhere.   I'm overseas and would appreciate a DM, PM or whatever they're called.

Thanks very much.

There was a certain brand that was one of the first to hand shake and hug the thug that day 🙄🙄

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
