Interesting.  Now we'll get headlines about board trouble

Will we? The board is reviewing itself. Green has been on the board since November 2020.

Do you know if the review will be just of the board, or of the operational and FD side of things too?

Operational and FD Jade.

Green wanted this review from August 10 when I first mentioned it here and he got what he wanted. Rightly so.

Stop calling @Satyriconhome Shirley @I'va Worn Smith.

Not naive, but we have had a couple of weeks on Demonland with posters going Houston we have a problem, and when I ask what they are, nobody can elucidate.

So more interested, or are we just repeating what Morris, McClure, Cornes and all the other circus performers say.

A big ty to Kate for all her efforts and passion she brought to the club.

She backed Goody to the hilt during a tumultuous 2019 / 20.

We ended up achieving the ultimate the following year which i'm forever grateful for.

Kate was one of us as well as attempting to play a key role at club / board level.

I loved how she would happily mix in with the DA and have a quiet one or two when the opportunity arose.

Was hoping she would steer us through the Caulfield shenanigans but alas no definite outcome as yet which is no doubt beyond her control but still dissapointing that we seem to be always a bridge too far.

I see this last part as one of our most important cogs if we're to transform from a medium sized club, always chomping at the heels of the big boys, into finally cementing ourselves as a proper BIG Vic club from here.  We need some good news on this and soon imho regardless of who the new president is.  They need to get on with things quickly and get it done ASAP.

No, always the optimist, why make your life miserable by being a pessimist., although some on here seem to enjoy that, like watching footy games for mistakes only.

Just support my team, as I have said before, instead of hiding behind nicknames and avatars, if I have an issue with anybody at the club, I ask them face to face.

Not a fan of Brad Green's attitude to lockdown but understood it, think he will make a good interim chairman, he is not carrying any baggage (apart from maybe the trouser thing), so hopefully the noise will settle down and the ever hungry media pack will move onto Port or maybe Beveridge again if the Dogs lose tonight

For an optimist you spend a lot of time bagging Melbourne supporters

We can’t all be as amazing as you mate

I wouldn't say I am a pessimist. I'd say I'm an optimist. Get things right off the field and we're a huge shot at a flag in 2025.

As for Green, I'll get banned if I say what I really think of him, but let's just say our views align on him.

Kate oversaw our most successful onfield era since 1964. She is arguably our best president since Bert Chadwick.

Thank you Kate, you were president during a period of sustained success. And when tensions arose you were happy to step down with grace, allowing a safety valve for the pressure in the club to be released. There will be others who have responsibility for issues the club is facing, who are not acting with your dignity, in many ways you were on a hiding to nothing. You are a class act. Note that Kate stepping down like this and in this time frame was not picked up by the media so well done club.

I wish Brad Green success, personally I was not a fan of the training standards he set when he was captain, a prodigious talent but as a player I felt like he occasionally picked and chooses when he went. Also a touch of FIGJAM and his stuff on COVID didn't strike me as a leader, even though I do support his right to have a different opinion. All that said, I do believe he has Melbourne at heart and hope his better angels seek to guide him to unify the club rather than take a zero sum approach to whatever conflict is going on. Personally I think Kate's most magnificent achievement was backing the coach 100% and ignoring the haters when she did so. We wouldn't have won a flag otherwise.

No, don't bag, not quite sure some don't comprehend the word 'supporter', maybe they should be like the old friends with benefits, so "supporters with reservations"

I am always optimistic about the club, every year we get another crack at it.

Amazing comes naturally to Liverpudlians I am afraid, it is in the DNA, but nice of you to recognise it.

It’s not up to you to define how a supporter should behave or act.

Maybe do your own thing and leave the rest alone

Quite simple, step away from an unrewarding non paying role that comes with the accompanying garbage from media, pundits and some supporters.

Thanks for all your efforts Kate

President of the MFC is a highly desirable role.

Communicating effectively with the “garbage media, pundits and supporters” are all key elements to being successful at the role.

Perhaps Kate is stepping aside for personal reasons, perhaps her abilities didn’t meet the challenges of the role. But the role is distinguished and anyone given this prestigious title, to then step away early, is going to raise questions.

The problem we have is that the info that Morris et al ran with was leaked from within the MFC.  That is when leadership from the top is required.  I have no beef at all with Kate and whether she kept her "nose out of the football department or not, is not the issue.  Our leaders should have been across the brief and cut if off at the source.

Simple!!!!!

I can agree Kate did the honourable thing stepping down quietly. The rest… I give her the benefit of the doubt at this moment.

Brad Green as interim president, I like it. He’s had great challenges off field and while captain he had good energy. His views on lockdowns have been validated, to say anything against those decisions at that time took courage. He has good attributes.

Kate will be someone with the drought breaking flag next to her name and the first women’s flag for the club.

Hard to go past that for a defining figure in the club in modern times.

Moving on at the right time too, also a virtue.

Without being accused of ‘signalling’ or playing with identities (for shame) - it’s also that much harder for a woman in this landscape and she navigated well. Mistakes were made, as they always are, but she bows out with grace and a decade of service to the club.

Yeah see ya.

Brought in as someone with a wealth of experience in being able help secure a home base and yet, here we are no where near any close to having a home base 3 years on.

Whatever she did, good on her.

Then to have Brad Green step in doesn't fill me with that much confidence either.

The sooner Steven Smith steps in the better.

It's incredibly crucial we get this right.

Roffey's departure and the appointment of Green seems to me a recognition that the president needs to have football knowledge, not just knowledge of the corporate world.

Smith ticks both boxes.

Coming to Melbourne after seven years as a leading goal kicker at North Melbourne, Brown was well known for his unique, extremely long run up on set shots for goal. After some early setbacks injury wise settled into the full forward position in time to play a big role in the 2021 premiership win with three goals. Unfortunately, the remainder of his time at the club was hampered by injury including the need to undergo knee surgery. He retired from playing football at the end of the season after 4

    AWESOME FOURSOME by Meggs

The rejuvenated Demons out tussled the Tigers by 13 points to make it four wins on the trot on Saturday which means that the slight possibility of a finals appearance remains alive in 2024. This is despite the AFLW handicapping the Demons against their peers yet again (more later). Lots to celebrate as it was Kids Day at Casey Fields and both teams ran onto the ground modelling their Pride jumpers.   Kate Hore won the toss and kicked to the Clyde end. Thankfully, the notorious Casey

    THE TRADING CHRONICLES 03

Part 3: Happier Days by Whispering Jack It would be fair to say that when the Melbourne Football Club entered the free agency and trade period earlier this month, its reputation was flagging, if not in tatters. The club was taking a battering in the media and social media over a number of issues, some real and others imaginary and even fabricated, relating to the running of the club, team performance and its culture, a build up that’s been taking place for more than twelve months. In this must-win clash between Melbourne 11th on the ladder and St Kilda 8th, it was the Demons who were in front all day to win in a hard-fought Round 8 clash to make it three in a row to keep theit slim finals chances alive. A good crowd of enthusiastic footy families for week 2 of Pride Round had gathered.  The full pews in the well-appointed RSEA Park grandstand provided excellent viewing.   The Saints won the toss and elected to kick to the southern end favoured by a strong 2-3 g
