How dare you find a fact that doesn’t fit the narrative.

He’s checked out.

Sounds like he's a prisoner

He signed the contract last year? I’m not sure why we’d let him go if he’s contracted unless there was extenuating circumstances and Freo could offer serious picks in return. Thats something I don’t think they can do. For mine he honours his contract as Petracca and Oliver will do.

I think this looks different.
Tracc and Oliver, allegedly, wanted to move because they were unhappy with the culture but are both from Victoria. Kozzy wants to move for cultural reasons which we may not agree but are real for him.
The bottom line is we do have this year to convince him that Melbourne is where he should play his footy but from what I do know (and on the topic I’ll confess that is a lot and probably more than I should be posting in the open forums) he wants this move for reasons it would be hard to humanely not make possible.

While I think he probably didn't choose the best words, I think saying this puts to rest trade talk for this season unless we get an absolutely monster deal.

Wishful thinking

Seems like a pro to me in terms of what he is saying and that is backed up by his efforts at training.

Wouldn’t worry about direct quotes similar to how ‘60s ne’erdowells talk about jail time from a bloke like Kozzie. He ain’t the best performer with the media.

Well given the club has said we aren’t trading him, not much else can be said. Media can say all they want

The media will keep raising it all year, that was my point. Thinking it puts this to bed for the year is wishful thinking, it will be a constant.

You’re obviously not in tune with 23yr olds & social media. Don’t particularly care about any of that.. he is playing this year at MFC ? ..uh yes. I guess in my life ..I don’t waste time beating myself up with what will happen in the future ..I will just enjoy watching him this year …

No i am, you're just living in a sense of denial.

Even @Dannyz who has one of the best sources at the club has confirmed that he's super intent in joining Freo. I take his word for it.

It would be very easy for me to not make it humanely possible.

Yeah they probably will. Doesn’t mean we should change our stance though

I have no doubt Koz will leave, but we have him for this Season, if we have a seriously good year, we have a chance to convince him to stay longer.
if 2025 is a stinker like ‘24 i think it would be the best time to do deals.

It’s up to the Players in my view.
How Hungry are they for more Top Shelf Success??

Freo have now offered Kozzie's cousin a spot on their senior list.Screenshot_20250214_195504_Chrome.thumb.jpg.6ea1832ac539cb83428c04a6da791259.jpg

May as well play his mum @ full forward.... and they still won't get him

I was all team Roy George but it seems Jai Culley is one who's been the most impressive out of the train ons.

Look at the coincidences, Kozzie’s brother in law and now cousin put on the Dockers list, in one off season.

He does. Didn't think we're that bad. Sounds like we're holding him captive.

We had some good conversations with him but he’s told us that he’s happy in Perth and will be re-signing with Freo.

Also happening. All the quality Victorian boys are happy at freo so they’re doing something right.

God I’m sick of hearing of players wanting to leave the club , I know players movement is more common these days and understand there are sometimes complicated genuine family reasons. But we have had Jackson, ANB , Petracca, Oliver, Pickett and now reportedly Mcvee too

It’s not great ! Hopefully we have sorted some of the cultural issues out for this season , and it seems to be a more connected place this year. However we are constantly having places wanting to leave the last few seasons, with very few quality players wanting to come to us . It needs to change . Not sure if it’s culture or we just need to be more careful recruiting interstate players , but I’m sick of it

the interview was a pretty good indication of a professional answer.

Yep hes contracted.

Its up to the club to keep him and all our players engaged and focused. Success will do that and keep him/them  happy.

His value to move is dependent upon him playing well and having success

Personally I think if he was a premiership winner in the next 2 years Id be happy to let him go to WA if that would be best for him and his family. Of course a lot can happen in that time. That also allows us to develop someone to replace him

Where has McVee said he’s wanting to move back home?

he literally said at the b&f he’s never leaving vic

There was a poster on the Mcvee contract thread who said he had inside information that Mcvee wants to move back home West. Hope it isn’t true

"Do my time" is such a post-free agency concept.

The draft is at best a nuisance - at worst a form of fairytale authoritarianism. You must bow to the king, feigning loyalty, but after six years the spell is broken and then you are free and can kiss rebel princes and sing with forest animals in your home state to your heart's content.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
