As devastating as it was to lose finals in the last two years coming in as top four, at least we put up a fight. This is just deplorable from Port Adelaide.

I know Geelong and Chris Scott are equally disliked on Demonland but their ability to challenge more often than not is amazing.

Does Ken even last to the Semi's, this is an epic fail. I am truly staggered at how one sided just tuning in now.

How do you rate Petracca’s skills just out of curiosity?

Not sure how Trac came into this conversation….

Geelong have only been out of the top eight, 5 times, since 2004

Their midfield is so average. The only stars they have are JC, Stewart and an aging Danger. Their role players are still high quality but Scott is the master strategist.

It’s a very good effort and also sickening.

Their role players have a lot of skill, the ball control tonight has been top shelf

It’s what we’ll run and coached sides do. I’m a bit shirty tonight watching Port, who finished second get smashed while our club is out of the finals and is in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Danger is the most over hyped and over rated footballer in recent times.

Fair dinkum, this is the best example of tall poppy syndrome. I don't care how much of a campaigner Danger is, he's an outstanding footballer, like having a go at the All Blacks, you can hate em, but respect for what he's done over the journey. At 34 and a 1/2, he's still above his average for disposals and had an impact on metres gained.

Scott is a great coach, but he also has two completely unique star players like:

Blicsavs. He is a freak. Plays any position and on any size player. Small or large. More times than not, he gets the job done.

Gryan Miers also broke the all time record for goal assists last year. People love to hate him, but he is a master of inside 50 kicks.

I would kill to have Miers in our team.

I don’t and can’t respect Danger. I stand by my point.

Ask Danger how tall he is and divide it by a good margin.

Apparently ginnivan is at the London tavern watching the game. Sam Mitchell is aware.

After going to the races gf eve last year & winning I guess he's sticking with tradition

The ultimate chokers the Powa, all style, no substance.

We need to find a Tall Forward with presents.

Look at the tall fella who has come on this year in forward line, Neale can take a mark and is agile.

That's all we need, both years in our straight sets exits our Forward structure has been appalling.

They retain the players they want and have constantly been a club players want to go too.

This is the most enjoyable Geelong Cats win since 2011. Hate the [censored] with a passion but them absolutely nailing Port is glorious. Haha so funny .

Watching a Qualifying final just blows my mind that we had 4 chances to make a prelim and blew every one of them in ‘22 and ‘23. Statistical chances of that happening would be awfully low.

It’s almost like Port must have a virus running through the team.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
