Here's the video, I think the part that got me the most excited is in the first couple of mins when he's on Richmonds VFL team, bounces off 2 blokes inside 50 and finds the teammate instead of blazing away. Physically he's big enough to play.

That was the moment for me. Clearly has the body and appetite for the contest, but the class and poise to match

Really excited to watch him play at the G

Windsor has excellent hands and decision making in tight. I think he will be an excellent midfielder once he gets the body strength.

I much prefer having left footed and right footed wingmen, because it allows us to move the ball more quickly around the boundary. Langdon, Sharp, Winsor and Lindsay give us a few options for the wing.

You'd think langers is a lock for one wing.

So of that lot it would have to be Lindsay taking the other wing if they went with a right left combo.

Who played the other wing last season?

Windsor in the main.

They could use Langdon as a high forward as the ANB replacement and have Windsor, Lindsay and Bowie compete for the wings.

Bowza coming onto Eddie’s wing in this scenario is an instant win for our decision making/delivery into the forward line but I wonder whether he has the thank for that role?

That’s the spirit

Message from a friend ...

Bloody hell, check the rig on this 18yo in the training camp rowing images. He's ready to go R1. Look out Riv and Spaz, the new calendar man is in town.

I saw the photo and he is ripped. He will be bloody hard to tackle at his size. Genuinely can’t wait for him to debut.

Unfortunately spargo is too small for the game and doesn’t compensate this with other skills.

Had a chat to the head recruiter at another club today and he really liked our picks. They didn’t have an early pick and didn’t put a lot of thought into the top of the draft but he had Langford and Smith as his top picks. He also liked Lindsay and thinks he has a good head on his shoulders.

I get given the list of the final rating of all Draftees by an AFL club the morning of the draft.
This particular club didn’t have a selection on night one, in fact, weren’t particularly active in the Draft this year due to trading players in.

They rated Jagga Smith the best player in the Draft.  In fact, 6 of their 8 analysts who watch Coates league games, rated Smith 1.
In their “aggregated” ratings list they had Smith 1, Ashcroft 2, Langford 3.
They had Murphy Reid a lot higher than he went, Taj Hotton a bit higher, and Travaglia a bit lower than he went.
They rated Xavier Lindsay right about where he got picked.
They tried to get up the board to get Ollie Hannaford, but couldn’t do a deal.
Interestingly, they classified Riak Andrew & Ricky Mentha as not Draftable.

As an addendum, this recruiter was not as complimentary about our picks when we drafted Jefferson.

That can't be right...some experts on here who have never seen him play rate him very highly & think we made a huge mistake in not taking him.

Edit: it's good to have an opinion but at least it should be a little bit informed. Our club recruiters who have a good record of picking talent didn't take Riak & now 'goodwindees' tells us another clubs experts don't rate him.

They could be totally wrong of course and the kid could go on to have a great career but you have to trust our recruiting department especially when all you are going on is the vibe.

Anyway, good luck to the 2 kids mentioned above I hope they do a Teddy Whitten to those who doubt them, particularly Ricky.

So Geelong 🤣

I don't like that the Blues got another A+er.

The Rolling Stones started out as a Blues cover band, so Jagga to Carlton seems like a natural fit.

Just feel comfortable in the knowledge that we got 2 to add to the one we got last year 'Adam'...

Just the one for last year, rjay?

Some of us here have high hopes for the Kolt

I didn't want to push it 'Macca', might have gotten 'Adam' a bit too excited.

I'm also one to have high hopes for Kolt.

...we've certainly drafted well.

There's a lot of hope involved and I rarely make big projections but if we had a Demonland award for 'Most Promising' then the Duke, the Kolt, XL & Harv's would all be vying for the award

Who would be favourite?  Langford?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
